Catobase question: Getting teams to acknowledge their histories

I've been very frustrated with a problem I've run into with my current league regarding Catobase, and I just wanted to post and see if anyone else has had the problem.

I'm 20 years into simming the history of the league. Several teams have changed cities over the years. Each time it happens, when I import, I assign the Previous team to whatever abbreviation the team used to have.

Only, it appears that it doesn't always work. When I ran Catobase, I got four teams listed as defunct teams that had actually just moved to other cities. I checked the team info screen, and they had indeed been assigned properly. So now I'm not sure how to fix the problem. How do I get the "new" teams to acknowledge their histories? Anyone know?

I'm using 6.0.0 and thus far have only had 2 teams change its working ok for those two teams for me at this point. I know, not much help, but I'm pretty sure your are doing it exactly how you are suppose to.

Yeah, other teams have switched cities and there have been no problems. I've used Catobase plenty of times in the past and I've never had this happen. It's kind of disappointing.

Have you looked at the database in Access just to make sure it doing what it is suppose to be doing?

I would, but I would need to get it to my computer at work and my cd burner on my home computer was broken by my overly inquisitive toddler. The computer it's on doesn't have internet access, and it doesn't have Access.

Well, I know I'm resurrecting a somewhat dead topic, and may well be telling you something that's common knowledge, but I'm fairly new to Catobase and still don't know what is or isn't common knowledge, so overlook me.
When I first started using Cato, I didn't know to keep the abbreviations the same, and had several defunct teams that had moved as a result. Then, as I was looking around in the program last week, I found a way to go back and make them acknowledge their history that might work for you, too.
I opened up the database in Catobase, and then selected Team Info from the Edit menu (this is 6.1.4, BTW). I then went to the first year that a team was in it's new city (i.e., I went to 1902 for the St. Louis Browns, who had been the Milwaukee Brewers in 1901, and to 1903 for the New York Highlanders, who had been the Milwaukee Brewers in 1902), and left clicked the PrevTeam column. This made a pull down appear in that space, from which I could select the team they had previously been. After doing them all, I hit Exit, re-exported my hotmail with the recalculate all years option ticked (not sure if that's necessary or not, but decided better safe than sorry), and voila, no more defunct teams, all history acknowledged.
Now I just change the abbreviation every time a team moves and have made doing this each year after I import stats, but before exporting HTML, a part of my yearly routine.

Yeah, I had tried that. It always worked for me before.

I did end up solving this. I had backups of the database from every season, so I went back to before the first team move that was an issue and redid every season. It took a while, but it worked, and now everything is looking pretty good.
