Fantasy Sports Logo - Columbia Colonials...

Here's another logo. I tried to have the soldier look as heroic as I can, almost superman like if you will. I think the concept/idea was pretty good, but my execution is just "meh". Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

here are the bitmaps for the game if anybody is interested. Enjoy and happy holidays.

To Eugene, one of these days I will come up with one that looks clear in game too.

Those are awesome Cuss. The only slight thing I would offer is that there isn't enough contrast if that makes any sense. Maybe just a hint of dark red woud have been nice, but I feel really bad saying anything as they are unreal, and I could never in a million years come up with anything that awesome. Great job man.

Hey knuckler, don't feel bad at all man, I can see a million things wrong with this, but can't usually grasp what they are exactly. Your suggestion is execellent, I will defintiely give that a shot. Thanks.

Well, I think it's pretty damn good if you ask me! As always, I wish I could draw images like that...

Anyway, I would say the same thing as Knuckler, more colour contrast would probably be good. Maybe more difference between the two shades of blue you're using, and perhaps some red in the flag.

Personally, I would fatten up the outline of the "Colonials" lettering a bit and make it more white to help that text stand out more. I might also consider enlarging the "C" and tucking in the "olonials" partially inside it. I would also enlarge "Columbia" a little to make it stand out a bit more.

I really like that secondary version. Only it looks a little stretched horizontally, so the "C" in it looks more like a sideways "U" rather than a "C". Maybe shift the soldier to the left a bit so his arm overlaps the "C" so you could then shorten the arms of the "C".

I hope the above doesn't sound too critical, I mean overall it's really great. Mostly I'm just nitpicking... okay, a number of nitpicks, but nitpicks nonetheless...

So I don't keep putting my foot in my mouth, I will keep my comments to a very minimal. If I keep offending the designers with my constructive suggestions, I may never get another one...and I need about 8-10 more to complete my leagues.

Cuss, this is excellent as always...you are truly skilled.

My only suggestion has already been mentioned...I would make the flag with red and white stripes to add some color to it...the dark gray stripes should be red...the light gray stripes should be white...with white stars on a red background.

Sorry, I lied...I have another suggestion...I like the bat in the secondary...and would use it in the primary, too.

Man, I never even noticed that! Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees...

Anyway, I think that's a great suggestion, Eugene.

Cuss...

I really like the more colorful Primary logo now. It really "pops" more than the original dual-colored logo. I totally love the tertiary logo....dats da bomb.

The one I dont terribly care for is the secondary. I just think the "colonial" in the C looks too....squat and 'hunkered down'. I'm not sure if thats something you see too, or if its just me.

My only other beef...and I'm picking nits here....is that the right hand holding the bat has really no definition and doesnt stand out against his chest. It just looks like a dark blob. Not sure how you could revise that, even if you wanted to...

Anyways, don't let anything I say bring you down, Cuss. I admire your work a lot and wish I was similarly talented. Keep up the good work.

Peace.

all very good points, and I can see exactly what you mean FastLane. Thanks for the suggestions and I will see what I can do to fix those.

I think this will be the final finished version if there isn't any more suggestions. Thanks for all the feedbacks I have gotten so far, I am quite happy with how this logo evolved from the original. I will lurk around the forum for my next victim. Thanks again guys.

All of them look great! The secondary now looks like a C behind the soldier, just as it should.

My only quibble is that I find the colour contrast to be rather low, as the colours still seem rather muted. But bear in mind I do have the brightness on my monitor set pretty low, so maybe it's just me.

I particularly like how you worked some flourishes inside "Colonials". Very nice. In fact, I'm going to have to borrow that idea for any future logos I do.
