It is a lot of reading, but here is a study of the word "cracker".

http://kpearson.faculty.tcnj.edu/Dictionary/cracker.htm

Hey thanks for the post. I don't like to show my cards too early so I will just say that I want the name to mean what it first was used for, farmers who grow crops that need to be cracked. My league is starting off with 14 teams and it will progress through out the years. At one point the controversy of the name crackers is going to force Georgia to change their name to the Wheat Kings.

Colonials is very nicely done, Oriole66.

Figure and colors really fit the theme...very well done.

Oriole, the lettering is fantastic and colors are great...but the baseball and the cap might be too much IMO.

Thanks Oriole. I think Eugene was right that the cap and ball was too much. But I will take it.

How about Ben Franklin swinging or pitching a baseball...or maybe the Father of our Country...General George Washington?...or the Declaration of Independence with the team name in the form of a signature?...but, of course, legible and easy to read in the game...or better yet, let Franklin pitch to Washington...I think I like that better.

(Yeah, it is easy for me to say...much harder for the designers to do).

I tried to follow your suggestion as best as I could (I chose to do the last one - Franklin pitching to Washington).

Let me know what you want changed (sorry - it's a little larger than 150 x 150).

Could you change the pen to a quill? It would fit in with the colonial theme better...it would be a perfect logo then.

Ran across this searching for a logo and wanted to add a note. The origins of the word cracker are really not known. This is one theory for the American version, but it isn't definitive.
In fact, Shakespeare even used the word in one of his Kingly plays (King John, I think). Even then, it had a negative connotation.
