ok before i do this, quick question.....before i started this i uploaded the html pages from the online option in the ootp game to the website folder where the catobase files are spose to go.....are you spose to do that, or is the website folder spose to be blank before i run the create html pages??? just checking before i run the creat html pages
edit: im using 6.0 version....where should the hard drive directory be directed to? i see also that with the box checked that says "run exporter & copy html files to data folder" does that mean that the games html files path has to be directed to the data folder and not to the website folder if its checked???? the way i have it now is: the games html files is directed to the website folder the data directory is directed to the data folder the hard drive directory is directed to the website folder is this wrong?? Yes its wrong.
The Game HTML files is where you put the OOTP generated HTML files. The Data directory is where CATO will generate the CSV files. The Hard Drive directory is where CATO will generate the CATO HTML files. The data directory should be blank only the first time you use the program for any league. After that it will continually store your CSV files there in a dated folder. Its doesn't need them anymore, but I recommend you just leave them alone, they don't take up much space. The hard drive directory should be empty before you create your CATO HTML the FIRST TIME only. After that CATO will just keep adding to that directory and that will contain your full HTML data set for your league. If you ever accidently delete something, just uncheck the option in CATO telling it to create HTML for all years and you can get a clean HTML data set back again. The run export and copy files option was done when you created the CSV files. You are telling CATO to run the CSV exporters and grab the 3 HTML files it needs from you Game HTML files folder and copy them to the Data directory you specified. This option is useful in two different scenarios. #1 for reason you wanted to create the CSV files manually. #2 You've create the CSV files and then had to edit them to make them work. So now you need to run CATO again, but you don't want it to create the CSV files again, because they would just overwrite the edits you just made. So create an new directory for your CATO HTML and point your Hard Drive directory to that directory. That will be where CATO will build the HTML, not into the same directory ad the OOTP HTML. |

So heres what i got....i have a folder that i called history.......in that folder i have a folder called washington.....in that folder is where everything is....i have the cato save, data folder and a website folder....is there another folder that i have to create, if so what should it be called?
Pretty much is that what it should be: game html files goes in the website folder cvs files go in the data folder hard drive directory goes in a folder that i create??? |

If by website folder, you mean the folder that contains the OOTP generated HTML, then yes.
Yes, create a directory called CATOHTML or something and point the Hard drive directory to it. That is where CATO will put all the HTML. Then just leave it there for future seasons and CATO will just keep adding the new stuff right into the same directory. |

I'm not sure. It almost seems like its trying to find someone's fielding data but the data is not there. Or you just got some funky fielding data for that team. Have you upgraded to 6.1.4 or still using 6.0.0? 6.1.4 fixes a lot of problems for a lot of people. I would suggest you try 6.1.4 first. I do seem to recall that many folks have run into difficulties with win shares in CATO. I'm not sure if there is a common solution or not, but I think I've read that some just turned off win shares because they couldn't get past them.

Yeah im going to wait until i see if i get the error 55 message and if i do then ill upgrade to 6.14 and turn off win shares to see if it works....ive tried 6.14 before and it gave me the type mismatch error...6.0 was the only one that has got me past the type mismatch error....i may try 6.0 with win shares off to see if that works first....ill keep you posted with what happens

Just so I'm not missing something here, Ace. You're up and running?! You've managed to get Catobase to yield into submission? If that's the case, congrats. Great feeling, eh? Good job sticking in there.
