Cuss - Portland Timberjacks...

http://members.shaw.ca/pyuana/portlandtimbers.jpg

This is for those who wanted to see the full size version of the logo. I tried to portray the double meaning of the team name "timberjacks" into the logo. So one meaning I wanted to convey is that the logger is yelling timber after a tree being cut down and the other meaning is a baseball player searching for the ball in the air after a huge swing.

The color red is chosen because or the Red Maple that is supposedly a common tree in Portland. A letter "P" was done hidden in the lumberjacks' tuque, well at least that's what I intended but things don't usually turn out good.

Thanks again to those voted for me, suggestions are always welcome.

I figured that one was yours. The style in which the type was treated and the way the figure was drawn certainly seemed familiar.

Congratulations on the gold medal!

Isn't eh. I knew it was Cuss's just by the color difference in the axe. It blows me away that people can draw this well on a computer. I can't even write my name in mspaint not alone draw a character! Great job Cuss.

I'd like to know whose #14 was. I felt it was very close to this one.

Yeah, I was quite surprised to get an Anonymous entry. I do have my suspicions though, based on a comment in one of the threads on the first logo. I think someone tipped their hat, but I might have been the only one to catch it because only I knew that someone submitted a "secret" entry.

I must admit that I didn't vote for your logo, but that was mostly on a technicality. If the Portland had showed up better at the 150x150 size, I would have voted for it, and I have a feeling the results would have been a lot more lopsided.

The full size version is stunning. Great work Cuss. I can see an incredibly bright future ahead of you!

My sentiments, too...Cuss does excellent logos.

but IMHO Portland needs to be larger to show us in the game.

I would have also preferred green color, too...for forest theme.

that's a good suggestion EC, I originally had a dark green as the dark color of the logo, but it didn't create enough contrast with the red which I want to keep to reflect the red maple of Portland.

And the text portland defintely needs to be improved to be readable in the game, I will have to keep this in mind for the San Anotonio Tejanos the next time around.

Thanks for all the nice compliments guys.

cuss logos

Cuss,

Very impressive job on the Portland logo (as always). You could certainly be a professional graphic designer (if you aren't already).

Have you tried to make any uniforms with the deft templates? I'd love to see what kind of uniforms you would come up with. Maybe even some uniforms to go with your Portland logos??

Just a thought,

Rich

Respect Cuss,

drawing at its best. If you now still tell me you could not mess with some Professional, i would go crazy. There is nothing to hide from a Prof. Logo Designer. Maybe someone has to hide in front of you

Cuss, i like the style that you have, like i loved the Colonials Logo you did in the Past. Awesome work of a Person with brilliant skills.

Keep on the great work

regards Pepe

You guys are far too kind, I still have a long, long way to go from being a professional, of course it would be sweet to be able to make this a career out of this one day but for now, like I said before, I can only practice and practice and practice some more. I do very much appreciate all the nice comments.

And richw138, that's a cool idea, maybe I will give that a try one day.

By the way this contest idea by LL has been great, I often find it hard to motivate myself to sit down and design something for just the fun of it, but now it's realy much easier with this contest thing. I already have something that's almost done for the next round. I guess I am just a very competitive person by nature.

Nevermind. I can't get it to upload here, and photobucket isn't taking it.

I don't mind knuckler, but it would be nice if you had asked me first. By the way the link is not working.

Yep, sorry, I won't do it again. I'm very respectful of people's work(and it's not like I was trying to pawn this off as my own) which is why I don't want to enter the contest. I was just messing around anyways, and since the link doesn't work, I edited my post.

hey don't sweat it, I am not offended whatsoever. A note would have been nice but you didn't know so no big deal. I still would love to see the jersey you came up with. And I am sure I am not alone on this to say join LL"s contest, it's all in the spirit of fun. Besides, based on your previous stuff, you will do well in it.

Agreed, it's the same for me as well.

Now if only I could get back to finishing off posting the historical schedule files. I've fallen far behind in that, sadly... and I still have to post up all the corrected 1901-52 files to fix the Brooklyn-Boston ID number reversal... I need 32 hour days...
