To alinkens (or other Paint Shop Pro users):

I wanted to get into the whole FaceGen/uniform template/bag o' heads thing, but I've got an extremely naive question about this...

I thought I got a great deal on Paint Shop Pro 9 online, so I bought it. But, when it came, I noticed that I had bought the 'academic version', which needs a valid Student or Faculty ID "to purchase." I don't want to open it if I'm not going to be able to use it (no Student ID for me), but since I have already purchased it, is it the same as the 'non-academic' version, and can I use it? I have no idea if anyone would know this or not, this is just the first forum I think of when I need help with almost anything dealing even remotely with OOTP. Thanks for any help.

I downloaded mine from JASC's website and then purhcased/registered from them. I assume that you got a deal on it since its the academic version, but there should not be any other differences.. You may want to check with your local college bookstore, they might have more information on what exactly the academic version is. My wife is in college so we bought Office as an academic version and there is no difference.

Thanks, I figured they were the same program, I just didn't know if I needed to enter a Student ID# (that I don't have) once I set it up or not. I don't think I will need to, but I just wanted to ask. Thanks for your help.

Go ahead and use the program, student id's are to be verified at point of sale. After you get it home the package is no different than the full version. I actually took 1 class just to get the student id and purchased tons of software with the id....saved thousands that way....
