I would like to echo those that would like to see everyone in the contest.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to make all of the polls multiple choice. NMLeague, I will respect your wishes to not include your entries in the poll, but if it's okay with you I would like to include them in the compilation that I send to Al and Joe. Your logos may not be the flashiest, but they definitely aren't horrible. One of the reasons why this contest excited me so much is because of what I have already been doing in one of my solo leagues. It's a fictional league that I started in 1920. What I did was fill up a directory on my computer with as many logos as I could find that I liked. Then I divided them up into eras. Simpler and cleaner logos went in the early eras and the flashy Cuss-like logos went in the hi-tech era. What I've been doing is periodically changing the logo that I use for each team as the years go by. Just like teams do in real life. With the batch that I currently have, it has required that I make frequent relocations of my franchises and often changing the nickname as well. With this project, I will have my locations and nicnames already set up for me and I'll have plenty of logos to go in each era. It's a little more work doing things this way, but it makes my league feel real. Whatever you decide to do, please don't deprive the project of your work. If you'd rather not enter them in the poll, that's fine. At least send them to me with a note to use them as an honorable mention.

It was a bad idea to start this thread, I don't want to diminish anyones work or to negatively impact the logo competition, which was a great idea and which has produced many outstanding logos. I will continue to send logo entries, but may just post a thread with additions after the vote. I have one to send in for this weeks competition, plus I will send one from the ones above.
Maybe all designers will understand that there is segment of the people that want logos with text that is readable in the majority of the game screens, and at least make an effort to make text on their logos large enough to be read. Or just not add the text period.

I am glad you are going to continue to share your fine logos with us. Just post alternate versions after the vote is in...LGO did this last week and we got several more fine logos. There really are no losers in this competition...all of the designers are talented, skilled and creative. But as in life, some people are just a better and more skilled than others. It is nothing to be ashamed of to not get many votes in the poll...just to be in it means you are a darn good designer. The current entries are very, very close in this poll...a lot of wonderful logos get left out when we can only choose one. I wish when I request a logo, I would get this many fine versions to choose from...just to get two done as well as these would be great for me...and look how many we got...11. And that is the purpose of this project...to get lots and lots of fine logos...and also give the designers a chance to show their creative skills. jnshmoo has the right idea...save the logos for use in different eras. |

#1 is very nice...cute idea with the otter in the cap...excellent colors and font.
On #2 I really like the contrast with the white color for Otters. It really stands out. Last edited by Eugene Church; 02-12-2005 at 02:40 PM. |
