New Bridge Street Park
It was agreed that the city desperately needed a new stadium but, like many cities, public financing proved troublesome. After many unpopular attempts at writing stadium legislation proposing tax-increment funding, an increased city sales tax, or diverting a portion of casino income, it was finally decided to combine the stadium with the new river bridge project, laying claim to the necessary land and building the common transportation access in one undertaking. Once the bridge was completed, financing for the stadium would come in the form of tolls from traffic using the new bridge.
Construction on the bridge was finished in 20 months with Bridge Street Park requiring an additional 5 months to complete. The park incorporates many bridge-inspired elements in its design from the sturdy pylon towers suspending the left field upper deck, to the walkway bridges behind the centerfield scoreboard that offer not only bird’s eye views of the game, but also scenic vistas of the bridge and the stunning skyline beyond. Original plans called for a double-decked right field grandstand but it was removed from the final construction plans, not for monetary reasons but for aesthetics. It was decided to leave an open view of the bridge and downtown skyline. The natural knoll in right field was left untouched, save for the placement of light standards. The knoll was not originally intended as a seating area, but has become a popular vantage point none-the-less. A 23 foot high wall of double-decked advertising has been erected in right field in an attempt to discourage the knoll-squatters. Bridge Street Park features a large out-of town scoreboard in left field, wrap around LCD ribbon display boards on the facings of the upper decks, and a large center field scoreboard and replay screen. Both home and visitors bullpens are located behind the center field fence. Two large banners of local baseball legends and hall-of-famers decorate the grandstand towers. The ballpark has a capacity of 39,800. |

Hmm, that looks like a very familiar city, from a very familiar vantage point to me.
Great to see you back making stadiums, now if we can just get Cato to drop by again.
