EC, do you have Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop?

Ec, you have a great imagination. I really enjoy reading about your nation and it's cities. Especially when it inspires some of your logo threads.

Thanks, knuckler...I really enjoy creating the fictional leagues and their history and culture...and people like you make the teams come alive with your fine logos. The logos, stadiums, photopacks and banners really make the leagues very special. All of the graphics guys are a very big and important part of it.

Good stuff, EC.

i'm working on something similiar. i want it ready for v7.

Basically, i used the same process as you to create the United Stonian States. It was formerly three countries; Gwyndalan, Eastonia and Addison. Eastonia and Addison were once at war. Gwyndalan was a neutral country that helped broker peace. Eventually, they formed one country.

i used freeware called AutoRealm to make the map. Put in rivers, mountains, hills, roads, etc. Then i decided where i wanted my cities.

i took my city names from a book of names. The meaning of the names helped shape the city/area history. From there i'll be able to form leagues and give teams nicknames.

Great idea to make the topographical elements first...mine might have been better that way...the next time I do a map, I will do it your way. I wanted to include a few major rivers, but didn't have the room to do it once I had put in all of the cities...plus I didn't have any idea of how to depict a river with my poor skills at Paint.

I hope you will post your map and league information. It will be very interesting to see what you have done map-wise...and your city names and nicknames...tell about the culture and history as well.

Paint is fairly crude but useable. The biggest downfall IMO is that you can't do layers. It's much better for me if I, say, put all the town names on one seperate layer. I can then turn that on and off, copy that and change the fonts, etc.

Use to be that older versions of the Paint Shop Pro demo were around on some download sites. You could use the demo for a month (or more depending on your manipulation of computer time). I don't know if they're still out there or whether there is a demo of the latest PSP.

Once I get my website up and running I may try to learn to do logos, but get a better software than Paint. Several logo designers suggested I get a 30 day trial to see if I like the software and also if I can get somewhat proficient at using it. Computers really give me problems...I am not very intuitive or a quick learner. But I am patient and persevering...maybe that will get me through it.

I would love to do logos and stadiums...the latter which really may be way beyond my capabilities...even if I am persevering.

But hey...we can dream, can't we?

I always dreamed of having a site "half as good " as the Laseron Baseball Association and DreamTeams' Metro League...and it may happen soon.

I'd certainly look forward to a new Laseron/Metros-type league. If you need any help, there are a lot of people here willing to pitch in.

Thanks for the offer to help...this is one great community...I would be lost without you talented, skilled and knowledgeable guys. Everything I have learned about the game has been taught me by some very nice people.

I've been toying around with Gimp, a totally free graphics program. It allows layers but I havn't had enough time to really get into it.

Very nice work EC. Like the others have said, a new fictitional league to follow along would be great. I've always wanted to create my own baseball world complete with maps and lore. I have just never had the patience to follow up on it. But seeing the map you've created and the insight you posses, might just inspire me to do it one day in the near future .

Thank you for the nice words...but the real praise goes to the graphics designers, who make OOTPB much more enjoyable...without them it would be pretty bland.

It wouldn't be as hard as you think...since you seem to have very good computer and graphics skills...that's my biggest problem...it also helps to be retired...I have a lot of time to spend on my hobbies.
