New BOSI

Since the BOSI v2 was basically a shell and hasn't been worked on/completed yet, is it possible for somebody else to take it over? I mean does Joe own the code and just keeping it to himself so nobody else can do it? I appreciate all the work that Joe has done in the past, but he has made it abundantly clear that he has no time to finish the project, and it needs quite a bit of work, so I'm wondering what the big roadblocks are.

I know a few people with extensive experience that could probably finish it, but of course they most likely wouldn't want to just give it away. What are the protocols for such action, I mean it's basically considered abandonware I think...

The code is and always was open, thats why people have done their add-ons/variations of it.

People have edited the PHP pages that pull the data from the database. As far as I know, nobody has released an updated databases that fixes errors, or attempted to enhace the database.

Apart from CommishJoe's exporter for getting the data out of ootp everything else is 'open source', the mysql database and the php code for inputting the data and creating the pages. So the only thing stopping anyone from taking Bosi, or a new utility, forward is the amount of time they would require to do the job, which at the end of the day was probably why Joe stopped working on it.

To be honest, I am not quite sure how you would enhance the database. My efforts were to make the data as complete as possible, then to work on the reports for that data. This way, it would have been storing the complete history while everything else was being worked on.

Now, the forms/reports need TONS of work. I'll be the first to admit that. But, the data should be pretty well set.

As for me, things are looking up. I've almost caught up with life, and am getting itchy for OOTP again Exactly what that means in terms of BOSI work I couldn't say yet.

Answer -- So much that we can get our legs tied together, walking 3 legged for the rest of our lives and I'd love it.
