Can you play out minor league games?

I just downloaded the demo and decided to try working my way up from the minor leagues as a manager. Now that I have managers post in the Minors, I was trying to figure out how to actually play out the games as opposed to just simming them out. Is this possible?

If you are playing as the manager of a minor league team, you should be able to play out your games. In the upper left corner of your game screen, you'll want to select the league that your team is in. After that, you'll want to go to the Scores and Schedule screen, which is listed in the drop down menu at the top of the screen, under the initials of your league (to the right of the Manager drop-down menu). Once there, you just scroll down to find your team listing and click on Manage.

If youhave the demo, I would strongly suggest you spend some time as a major league manager, as well. The game doesn't really ever "promote" you, so you can be stuck in the minors for a very long time. That, and there's more features available to a major league manager.

Speaking from experience, and echoing what Twelvefield said, you will get tired of playing at the minor league level after a few seasons because you do not get automatically promoted within the organization with experience. You have to win to be offered jobs on the higher levels and this is hard to achieve because you have no control over your roster and must deal with frequent and arbitrary (and illogical) moves that your AI GM boss makes. At times, you must check your teams transactions log every day and adjust your lineups and pitching rotation according to the latest player moves on and off your roster (forget about having depth charts). Under these conditions, it is easy to get frustrated, stop managing, start simming, and accumulate a losing career record. And once you have a losing record you get fired faster and faster, it appears. Take Twelvefield's advice and manage as a GM on the ML level; it's a lot more fun.

Thanks for the tips regarding the game. I am still having trouble in locating the play out games for my minor league team, so I guess I will try starting out in the Majors.

Thanks

The second post in this thread, how to ACTUALLY manage your minor league games, should be stickied in here. THANKS to whoever posted it. I grabbed the demo today, spent 20 frustrating minutes trying to "play" my first contest on field after fiddling with rosters and such for a while, and was getting VERY frustrated. I found several threads above this one which weren't helpful or specific as Nutlaw's is.

As to the second responders' comments, just how long do I ahve to use the demo? Is it capped by seasons, days installed, or hours turned on?

You can play it for thirty days of real time, but you can never advance beyond August 1 on the schedule.
