Hi all! I'm newbie of oottp and Italian. So, please be comprehensive.
![]() Well, I chose for my very first ootp game a scandalously weak Italian team, Trieste Alpina. And I've just noticed I can only sign free-agent players. I don't know how to sign other teams player or to trade one of theirs. How do i do that?

Unlike the European Football system of buying players and offering them contracts, you can only sign free agents (players without a contract), claim players off waivers, or trade your own players for players from another team. You can't buy a player from another team. Also unlike the European Football system, if you trade for a player, or claim a player off waivers,, you take on their contracts. So if you trade for Player X who had a 5 year deal worth $15,000,000 per year, you now own that contract and must pay that contract unless you trade him or release him, in that case, you have to eat the remaining salary.

This info was put together for OOTP 6.5 (the previous version of this game) but will mostly apply to OOTP2006: *Transaction FAQ*
As for trading, go to league -> transactions -> trade

You would do well to read three sections in the game guide, available in the downloads section of this website: Trading, Finances and Player Contracts, and Roster Rules and Management. The last section in particular has a very good summary of waivers and other roster moves.

Thank you very much, guys. Now I know most of the main things of the game.
![]() Anyway, tell the SI developers to implement a 2D engine for simulating the matches. It would be the turning point of this beautiful game.
