Looking for a very in-depth league

I've grown tired of fantasy leagues where all you do is click "active" or "reserve". I want full control over a franchise but also a league that updates their CatoBase as often as possible.

I would really like to find an in-depth league where the commissioner updates the HTML on the league website after every sim as I can't use OOTP at work, but I can check out the league website.

An updated CatoBase, again, is a huge thing for me, as I'm a huge stats fiend (I'm sure many on this board are) and this is just essential in any league.

I would also prefer to find a league with a very active forum. Anything less than extremely active and I probably wouldn't be interested. I can access the internet, like I said, at work, so this would be vital.

Finally, and this is one thing that not all leagues have - are incentives for article writing to improve your franchise. Some have it, but others don't. I find that when owners are given incentives, they write more articles and are generally more active in a league. This would also be something I'd really prefer in a league.

A salary cap is also something I'd strongly prefer.

I am basically looking to be in ONE OOTP league and devote my time to it. I would expect my future fellow owners to be the same, and would only want to join a league where it is a cut above the rest and where the owners treat that league as their main league and the commish holds updating the league site and doing sims as a priority.

Is a league like this out there? I've checked the online league list and this board, and have seen some really nice prospects, but haven't been completely bowled over by any I've seen, and maybe I won't be. But maybe some experienced OOTP guys can point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for any helpful input!

Posted in your other thread, but I'll post here as well. HFTC is not an OOTP2006 league. We are OOTP5 actually.

Of course as any good commish would do.

Absoltely agree. Every year of HFTC in CATO here.

No league would hold a candle to HFTCs owners. 31 owners of which more than half are original owners. 33188 posts in HFTC of those 15608 are in the General forum alone.
HFTC Forum

Or how about activity in terms of trades? No one could match HFTC's 1155 trades among owners. We average over 70 trades per season. Every trade recorded here sortable by Year and/or Team and links to every player card.

Sorry, don't have them. Silly gimmicks needed by leagues in order to attract and keep owners. Results in poor writing and poor articles that aren't worth crap. HFTC owners stay because we have the best GMs in OOTP. Our GMs write articles because they WANT to not because they are given silly incentives. Great articles like:

My fav series HFTC Inside the Numbers

And articles by one guy who is so good he should write for a living

Got it. Also have a well thought out revenue sharing model that has been used since HFTC's inception that taxes the teams that spends the most money and gives to teams that earn the least amount of money. Also, capped money is given to teams that are below average markets and less.

HFTC is a mature league with mature owners. We've been around for almost three real time years with no resets no mulligans no commish changes. But don't take it from me take it from my GMs. Visit HFTC as ask the GMs what they think.

Here is a link that talks about our current opening in Philly.
Philly opening

Be sure to check out a lot of those stats/reports that are available to HFTC GMs. All stuff that would be available to you from work.

In addition, I recently added

The commish is out of town until tonight or tomorrow. I am sure he'll get you quickly taken care of when he returns.

I should also probably mention that I'd like to savor the managing experience. I would prefer a three day per week sim and 7 or 8 calendar days simmed per sim.

I notice a lot of leagues do 15 sim days at a time, and that's pretty rapid for me.

Thanks to all so far who've posted here, I really appreciate the help. I really enjoy looking at all of your leagues, there are some fantastic ones.

We sim 7 days each Monday and Thursday, with additional league file updates (for trades and waiver claims and such) on Sunday and Wednesday. On sim nights, I post each day's results as I finish simming it, and the gang gathers 'round in the "This simWeek in Baseball" forum to trash talk and cheerlead.

We are currently using 6.5. We are finishing up our 2012 season in the next week or so, then we will switch to 2006 for the next season.

While it always helps to make things easier for roster moves and such, our league has never required ownership of the game in order to play. We have many successful GM's who run their teams strictly off the web pages, the forum, and the forms I created to submit changes.

However, there are a ton of more options in 2006 (especially with the strategy settings). You may be missing out on some options if you don't own the game.

how often does OOTP update? i didn't buy OOTP 6 that long ago. sort of seems like a slight waste of money in a way. who knows, maybe not.

still, your forms are absolutely phenomenal!

OOTP has a new version about once a year. There was a slightly longer gap between 6 and 2006, because the new version is a complete re-write. The plan, as far as has been made public, is to have an OOTP 2007 ready for the real MLB opening day next year.

And thank you.

No, there is no version 7. OOTP 2006 is "version 7". They went from OOTP 6.5 to OOTP 2006.

Next year's model will be OOTP 2007.
