Charging a franchise fee
A league I am starting is considering charging a "franchise fee." We have enough owners(about half) we know are solid and will be around even if they lose the first 10 games of the season, and know their players.
We want more owners like that, and also want player who, well frankly, aren't going to get bored in a month because they discovered girls, or Pabst or something. What does everyone think of a league fee? Anyone tried one? Thinking like $20 a real year. Payingcommish, server space, not even sure what the rest goes to (winner payment?) Is it not worth the trouble? Would you be more likely to join knowing that owners who arewilling to pay a small fee are more commited? |

Seen it done here over the years, Most have failed to get off the ground because of the risk of hit-and-run. The only one that I can remember that has any considerable success was Cooley's league.

If someone doesn't trust this core group of guys who have far better things to do than run off with $300 or something, than we probably don't want them at all. |
