That's a relief for me. The Phillies don't look like they will contend any time soon.

Coaches and Scouts off?

Which teams are still open?

How about you let me know which team you'd like, all the same, so that I can get you signed up for one?

Just curious...doesn't effect any of my decisions...

where will our rosters come from...the 1941 rosters of the teams we've selected? i'm the Giants...in 1953 (1954?) will Willie Mays become a member of the Giants?

Thanks

No. Mays will enter the league through the draft. You get the players who were on the Giants opening day roster in 1941. You can check out your roster by clicking on the Online Rosters link in the webpage linked in my sig.

Glad to have WHBL alumni.

How do you think the 1st amateur draft will look? Seems like there weren't a lot of great players entering MLB during 1942-1944

Thanks,
Mark

I hadn't thought of that. I guess it will just have to be a bit of a bummer, unless anyone else has any great ideas.

Here's a couple ideas...but i haven't thought it through to see if there would be problems...and i don't know what OOTP-2006 is capable of doing:

instead of useing players that entered the league in 1942, maybe we could:
1) include all players that were rookies in the years 1942-1945 (probably still slim pickings)
2) just start with 1945
3) start with 1947 (the first year the rookie-of-the-year award was presented...Jackie Robinson)
4) include players from 1942-1947...it would probably be a large draft-class...but players that don't get drafted just don't make the league.

if we spend 3 or 4 seasons just useing war-time rookies it will be hard for the bottom-dwelling teams to improve very much...although maybe there were some good players entering during those years if they came right out of high school and were too young to fight in the war...i dunno...just throwing some things out there...

I'm not sure how you feel about alternate history stuff or editing the database, but I suppose it might be possible to edit some Negro League players into each draft class to boost the overall talent level.

Replaying the war years is very important to me, I don't want to skip over them.

We could vote on something like early integration.
