Announcing New League: 'Where The Greats Play' a 1941 league for the game's best players and GMs
'Where The Greats Play', a league for the game's best players and best general manages, is readying for its initial campaign. It should be a fun first season as 1941 replicates the epic MVP battle between Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. Williams hit over .400 for the last time in baseball history. But, DiMaggio on the strength of his historic 56 game hitting streak took home the award. Some felt that Williams, who did not get along well with the sportswriters, should have won the award – he did outhit DiMaggio over the course of those 56 games.
After '41 we move to the 'Lost Years' when, in real time, our heros on the baseball field became real heros by fighting for our country on the battlefield. There will be no World War II in WTGP, so we will see what kind of stats stars like Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio and Mel Ott could have generated in their peak years. After the “war what if”, WTGP will play host off to the epic Red Sox/Yankee rivalry which defines the sport of baseball. Should that grow stall, we'll have westward expansion to look forward to. There never was, and there never will be, a better time to be a baseball fan. WTGP will be a unique field both in its level of play and off the field rules. With some unique rules added since the last announcement and some taken away.

Glad to see that you've reconsidered. I'm definitely still interested.

Possible to get some clarification on this please?
Say an owner has a pretty bad team and he invests a couple seasons getting some good young players but the team continues to lose for those couple of seasons and the Computer decides to fire him. Is that what you mean? Seems like a guy could invest a lot of time and effort for nothing. I know I'd be a tad upset if I put a lot into a team only to be fired by the AI because it doesn't have as much patience as me. ![]()

What would happen to the GMs who would be fired? Are they going to get a shot to return and be some other team's GM?
Also, how big is the file? Thanks Robert.

The file will be as small as reasonable. I can't give a definitive answer on how small.

I will be running some test sims tomorrow to make sure that the hire/fire aspect works in a suitable way. So doubters can hold off until then.

Under pressure, I'm droping the Hire and Fire Coaches thing. I hope the league fills up now.
