Polling all online leagues

Just doing a quick polling/survey of all leagues that may exist:

Please post here with league name (link if you want), version of sim you are using, how long has the league been around in both sim and real years. If you are not using the 2006 version, what would you make you want to switch to any future version of OOTP?

Thanks, please do a seperate post per league, and only post about your league, no comments, as it will help me to roll things up

Using OOTP 2006. Not sure of the version number.

Started in the summer of 06 and currently in the 2008 off-season.

The Ted Williams Memorial League

OOTP version TWO, baby.

We started in real 2002 and sim 2000.
We're finishing sim 2014 right now (season 15).

That's right. v2.
Oh, and we're the first OOTP league podcasting (since July 2005). Just search TWML on iTunes.

Oh, and why not 2006? Well, not sure that's technically possible. Though now that it's on the Mac, I'd be tempted (I've been running v2 because Virtual PC can run it on my Mac.)

Summer of 49 Baseball League

http://www.gbwebs.ca/so49/

Started in 2002 using OOTP4, I believe the year was 1949, now in 1972 season.

Wasn't comfortable with V2006 to make the jump

MLBC: www.mlbcentury.com started with OOTP2 in 2000 with the 1905 season, now simming 1958 with OOTP6.5. Polled the league on switching to OOTP2006 and 13 of the 16 owners voted no and the other 3 voted 'whatever everyone else wants is okay with me'. Too many documented cases of OOTP'ers noting 2006 was not friendly to historical leagues. Maybe if the next release has everything at least back up to 6.5 levels we will consider switching.

Home Plate Baseball League

6.5
We have been around essentially since 2004 in three editions
v1: March 2004-August 2005
v2: October 2005-April 2006
v3: July 2006-Present
We have many reasons why the league has not made the switch, but the two that stand out the most are:
a) The game is not online league friendly. Exports are not implimented, AI makes moves for you even if you don't want them. It just simply takes much more work than it should.
b) Some of our owners don't play or haven't bought the game.

OOTP6 made online leagues more difficult and OOTP7 made them even worse. To switch I need a good version where online league play is important and not an afterthought, I would also need to find or develop a working BOSI/CATO for whatever version I use.

BBSC Current League

http://www.bbscleagues.us/current/

We started up in December of 2002 with a sim season of 2002, and we're now on 2016. We're still using 6.5. A lot of my league members just didn't have enough confidence in OOTP2006 to make the switch.

Monty Brewster Baseball Association

http://www.montybrewster.com/

Started in January, 2003 with v5 as a fictional league set in 1973. Progressed to v6, 6.5, and now 2006. League is starting the 1996 season right now. The conversion to 2006 almost killed the league because there were so many problems.

Atlantic Coast Baseball

http://www.atlanticcoastbaseball.com

Started in November, 2004. Historical fictional league set in either 1920 or 1921 (can't remember exactly what year it was started). Currently in the playoffs, 1944.

Currently on 2006, but there have been plenty of issues here as well. It's a pretty small league which I think made the conversion a little easier.

How did the conversion go? Did you have a lot of problems? How do you and the gms like new version as compared to the old?

Started: March 2003
Season Start: 2003 Total Minor-by GForce
Current Season: 2017 (World Series tonight, 2018 starts SUN)

It's foggy as to what version we used....it was using the new version released in 2003....OOTP 4?

Currently using OOTP 6.51a

A number of things would have to happen to move to OOTP 2006 or newer.
1. The GM's would have to want to. It has been very quiet on that front...and for the most part when it has been brought up it's been of the variety if we upgrade to 2006 the owner would quit.

2. As the commish and one of the primary people who sim...I would have to have much more confidence in the conversion...but more importantly I would need to have confidence that the new version wouldn't be a bearcat to work with. Commishing a league takes up a lot of time....and I'm fairly comfortable with the time committment that it takes with 6.51a....however it seems the new version would require a bit more of a committment which I'm not sure I have to give at the moment. So in a nutshell....ease of use would need to be at least on par with the older version before I would convert to the new engine/platform.

(For those who may be interested we have a number of openings... contact me at holycow_98@hotmail.com )

I did a blog on some conversion issues: 6.5 to OOTP 2006 Online League Conversion Blog

I would recommend doing a little testing to get the stats to be inline with your 6.5 league, but we didn't run into any major issues or showstoppers at all.

As for how our owners liked it, quite frankly many of them don't like it at all. That said, the simulation is quite a bit more accurate than prior versions. The look and "feel" are just a lot different and that turned a lot of owners off. I have a lot of faith that OOTP 2007 will bring things back to normal when it comes out.

OOTP 6.51a

League started in 8/06. Currently in 1916, our 6th live season (we run a very quick season....~3 weeks from Opening Day to Opening Day). 1901-10 was simmed to create a history.

* Started in 1945, now in 1970 -- totally fictional, no relation to Major League Baseball during those seasons
* Started with OOTP5, now using 2006
* Since I do not spend much time in the real world, I am not sure about the startup date for the league... I thought OOTP was out in 2004, but I have some league files that appear to be from spring 2003
