I know i'm late to this but each league should be able to market its self how it see fit. some of the best adds i've seen have had incomplete information but gave a great insight to the character of the commish & the league.
I think it would be great to include it as an official "tips to marketing your on-line league" as a stickey at the top of the online league listing forums. where somebody in a semi-official copacity can collect the tips and present them in an orginized fashion in a single post.
