Early Online League Feedback?
I'm in the process of starting up an online league with the new game. I'm wondering if anyone has already converted, or started a new one, and has some feedback.

I'm actually interested in seeing how commishes are handling in-season FA signings, extensions, and the free agency period. Like for the FA period, when are you starting, how many sims do you use (and how many days each). In v6.5, we simmed ahead to day 26 and did 5 days 1 day at a time. I'd be very interested in hearing how leaguer are handling this.

For the FA period, I handle it like this: 1) Sim from end of playoffs up until Rule 5 draft. Players file for FA during this time, but teams can't make offers because they haven't had a chance to export. 2) Run 5, 3 day sims in the course of a week. 3 days at a time is a good mix between advancing through FA and giving teams the chance to bid for certain players. Some players decide quickly, others take their time. 3) Run normal 7 day sims until we hit Jan 1st in game (usually 2 sims) 4) Run 21 day sims until the start of Spring Training I've found that most of the major league level players are signed during steps 2 and 3. Teams can then use the time from Jan 1 to Spring Training to fill out their minor leagues, if necessary. I also publish the draft during this time. |
