extra features in leagues

A lot of leagues have special outside-of-the-game features...stuff the commishes (or even GMs) do beyond the normal simming/trades, like instituting a waiver system, rule 5 draft, player bios, etc.

Anybody have any interesting ones they've done or seen which have worked well?

Live sims, power rankings, scouting a certain player, trade evaluations, etc.

Rule 5 draft, Live Free Agent bidding, the Maelstrom college league, and the Maelstrom Tournament are the major ones for our league.

the FDBL takes crappy teams like the Devil Rays and turns them into some mexican team so that we can get someone to take over the team and actully do something with it!
