Tigers Reign As NOBL Champs
TIGERS REIGN AS NOBL CHAMPS
The National On-Line Baseball League has recently completed its first season after coming back together under the OOTP4 game engine. Eleven of the twenty teams finished with 80 wins or more, but it was the Detroit Tigers who took home the championship trophy in the inaugural season. Detroit's ace, Eric Tryon (19-2, 2.19) led the charge for the AL Wild Card winner, taking the Series in a Game 7 shutout of the Chicago Cubs. Tryon, who had earlier been named AL Cy Young winner, took home the World Series MVP hardware as well. The 2001 season saw a chase for .400, as Arizona's Bill Coffelt kept his average above the Williams Line until the last week of the season. He finished with a .397 average, 42 homers and 52 stolen bases and was named league MVP. The NOBL is currently finishing up the Free Agent period. Highly sought after two-bagger Mitsumi Shun (.321, 45, 111) signed a deal with Cleveland, but the recent record deal of young ace Ben Delacruz ($11.5 million, 6 years) with rebuilding Atlanta has all the league buzzing. Currently, several good teams are open, including: Houston (82-80). Milwaukee (83,79), Cincinnati (92,69), Colorado (73-89), and Pittsburgh (69-92).
