Post New OOTP GM (but old baseball sim vet) looking to get into a league

To the OOTP community,

I am looking to get into an online league. This would be my first online OOTP league. I am a longtime baseball game veteran from the olden days of the original Hardball and Micro League baseball.
And since then I have played everything ever sold in a store from Earl Weaver to Tony Larussa to Front Page Sports and High Heat, etc. And I always played just for the General Manager career mode aspects. So as you may imagine, I have never been satisfied...until finally finding the promise delivered in this brilliant program.

I have been running a fictional solo league for almost 10 seasons now and am about ready for some real owners of the other teams.

So, if you have an active league, preferably fictional (although I would also like one historical league to be a member of) please give me a buzz. I think I would make a great active member of a league.

Best to all the commishes out there,

Gates Elliott

We're proud to welcome Gates to the GBC's Other Reality Baseball league as the new owner of the Philadelphia Phillies!

Thanks Matt,

I'm looking forward to many successful seasons as the owner of the Phillies in the ORB.

I'm still looking for a fictional league, and/or a league with an Astros opening.

Gates, check out the Turn Two Baseball League , which is a fictional league, which (oddly enough) has the Astros available. Not your "Killer B's" Astros, of course, but a team playing in Minute Maid Park.

Drop me an e-mail if you're interested.

Gates,

We have no openings now, but you never know when one would come up.

As a result, if you would like to join the mailing list of the American Baseball League, a fictional league that has been running since 1901 (now in the 2002 season), be my guest. We're a 16-team fictional league, with the original format of the majors, but owner-created franchises (Philadelphia Quakers, Brooklyn Bombers, etc). Check us out at www.thepostgamereport.net, and feel free to look over the ABL Almanac (www.thepostgamereport.com/abl/almanac/index.htm). Right now, it's a bit screwed up, but I'm about to put everything back up now.

Contact me on AIM at UCONNROX11, or email me at ABLCommish@aol.com if you have any questions or are interested, even if it's just following the league for now. I like potential owners who like to follow the action, so that when they step in, they know immediately what's going on.

Peace
John

NPBL Back On Track, Looking for Owners
After a system Crash,
the NPBL is back up and ran sims beginning again today. Because of the crash, some vacancies were created on the team list and several are now available. The NPBL is a Fictional throw-back league which has no financial model (Since it takes place before Free agency). It features teams and old jerseys like Washington Senators, Seattle Pilots, Brooklyn Dodgers, etc.

The league is running great and we could use some more great owners. Please check us out at:

National Past-time Baseball League
It's also a career Leauge, with fictional players. Being a career Leauge, as GM you will be able to build your franchise over time, with a live Amateur Draft of 5 rounds at the end of each season. If your Team has a off year then(while upsetting :0) all the better for your place in the Ammy Draft.

We have some great owners who won't bail, and a Commish who cares about the leauge. One owner from Australia may even write some Newspaper style article's on the Leauge happenings, and maybe the owner/GM's.

I like the "Golden Era" feel of the leauge, with such teams as the Brooklyn Dodgers, Milwaukee Braves, Washington Senators,...ahhh yes,....even the Seattle Pilots thrown in!

The chance to win a Trophy/ Plaque at the end of each season is a nice throw-in from the Commish.

Six Teams available at this time, (Seattle Pilots, San Fransisco, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia) so come and join us as a charter member and build that Baseball Dynasty that you know you can!

"The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again." -Terrance Mann (James Earl Jones) Field of Dreams 1989
