New OOTP 2008 League (Rosters as of 1-1-2008)

Courtesy of the commish:

--------------------------------------
The ISL is opening it's doors. The International Sim League is an OOTP 8 league that will use Cubby Fan's most up to date 2008 rosters. The league will start on 1/1/08 and go right through FA into the season. Owners will be randomly selected to pick their teams once 30 owners sign up (so no first come first serve). If you are interested in joining, visit our site at http://www.theislleague.com and join/post in our forum under new owners. The forum link is http://www.theislleague.com/forum.

feel free to AIM Bobby at ISLTwins or email him at rjw45@upb.pitt.edu if interested.
----------------------------------------

Cubby's latest roster is very solid. I love the fact that even the 30th person to join the league could have their top choice in teams. Bobby also runs our FOF league which has been terrific:

Hi Mike, i'm Icy here and at FOFC and i'm looking into joining an OOTP08 league with the new rosters. Are there more FOFCer's beside you in that league?

No one else has signed up yet as far as I know. I think I was the third person; Bobby, some other guy I didn't recognize the name of, and me.

Icy,

I know I may have mentioned this before, but I was in Spain for 12 days in June and spent 4 of those nights living with a family in Toledo. We stayed in a home that was around the block from that one huge castle (I think it was a castle). Probably a vague description but it was near a circle drive which appeared to be near the middle of town or at least on the way in from Madrid. My directions are probably horrible but the "castle" I'm referring to had about a million stairs (or escalator) to get to the top of.

Anyway...BEAUTIFUL country although the food left much to be desired...at least by my stomach. Toledo was a fun city which was old and beautiful. I had a blast the whole time we were there. I really liked Madrid, Sevilla, and Torremolinos.

I was in an old baseball league where this guy went AWOL too and it was unfortunate. In my opinion, it's a thing of the past and any good league should have a backup plan in place for just that instance. As a former commish, I can tell you that it's not an easy job and Bobby has done an awesome job with CFL and is very excited about the baseball league.

As it stands now, we have 12 GMs signed up. Once we get the other 18 we'll have our team selection draft.

Bobby abandoned the old ISL flat out and started a pay league in its place. He basically waited for us all to drop off rather than call it quits.

I was warned by another GM not to join, because Bobby burns himself out. I should have listened.

I've commished several outstanding leagues, and still co-commish because my time has dwindled after having kids. I've never left people hanging.

Yes and that was childish and selfish on my part. Things of changed. I am no longer starting a new job and most importanly I have more help. One thing I am doing for this, like the OLD ISL, is setting up a 2nd in charge just in case something happens there will be someone to step right in for me.

Are there any openings left in this league? I can't seem to get into the forums to find out.

Never mind. I just found out it's full. Thanks!

I don't know if anyone was wondering how this team selection idea would work, but I really think it worked great. Good teams were available throughout the draft and everybody had their own idea for what they wanted. An example, the Tampa Bay Rays went number one in the draft and the Yankees were the final pick. Not only was it fun, but it was also a fair and random way for everyone to get a team instead of the typical first come, first serve.
