JOBL re-vamps and re-launches as the Federal Baseball League
![]() To celebrate our 6-year anniversary next month, we've decided to take everything we've learned through the years and re-start the JOBL as a brand new, improved league - the Federal Baseball League. We've worked hard to craft the rules, back story, and teams in preparation for this big change and hope we can find a few more like-minded folks to join us for our new adventure. The basic premise of the league is a reformation of the old Federal League about 10 years after being bought out by MLB owners. The league will start in 1925 with a quick sim up until 1950 to generate some history. The league struggled through the early years (mismanagement and misplaced priorities), but after the war the owners looked to take advantage of the new found prosperity and renewed interest in baseball to re-launch the league as the Federal Baseball League. After a merger with a small western league (to increase market reach), a complete re-draft, and striking a deal with the Cuban Professional League (to bring Cuban talent to the US), our owners will start off in 1950 to guide this rejuvenated league into a full scale competition with Major League Baseball for America's hearts and minds. League Features: -20 team fictional league, talent only displayed -We're going to sim from 1925 to 1950 to get some history, owners take over in 1950 with an inaugural draft -1950 era financials and settings -1st round ammy draft order will be a lottery system -Each team will have a Face of the Franchise (franchise player) -Feeder leagues and a Cuban professional league -Great competitive owners and all the bells and whistles you'd expect from an established league We have 3 openings right now: 1 in the Central and 2 teams in the West. New owners will be able to pick their city from a list of approved locations, create their own logos/jerseys/caps and build their team from scratch in the inaugural 1950 draft. And get the benefit of joining an established "new" league. We have 15 owners coming back for this great new experience, all of which are very competitive owners and great guys. You'll definitely enjoy this league. If interested, be sure to check out the full rules and the developing back story on the site... then send me an email with the following information: -Name -Primary email -Primary IM (not required) -Current leagues/past experience with online leagues -Your preferred division and locations Hope to hear from you soon! ![]() Jason jason.dettbarn (at) gmail.com Site: http://www.federal-league.com/ Message Board: http://www.federal-league.com/phpBB3/

I see from your rules page that you have decreased player development randomness. How reduced is this setting?

If I had to guess where it will end up, I'd say maybe 75 or so (maybe a little higher) on a 1 - 200 scale. Our current owners didn't really like the player development that happened in the JOBL, so I wanted to tone it down a little. Not too much, since that could have been a combination of us moving from v6.5 too.

Down to 2 openings! 1 in the Central and 1 in the West.
I also changed the forum settings so Guests can view the threads. I think that was an issue before... Anyway, join the fun!

Jason's a top notch commish. I can't believe there are still openings in this league. You should snap them up immediately, if not sooner!

Plus I think the conversion from 6.5 to 2007 hurt a little, since the new engine took the game away from the more comfortable (dare I say, predictable) world of 6.5 for many owners. We all enjoyed the history we built, but in the end being able to create a league we were all super excited about and doing it from scratch in 2007 won out.Plus I think with fictional leagues (as the other thread has alluded to), you really had to stand out with some unique features to attract and keep owners and I think (hope) we did that here... the JOBL, as fun/stable/long running as it was, wasn't too unique. That made it hard to attract good owners.
