24 teams plus 3 minor league levels

Begun in 1945… human GMs beginning in 1953… now playing 1981
However, this is a fictional league in a fictional country – no attempt is made to recreate American “80s style” baseball… Our eras are independent of reality, and we have had a golden age for the long ball – but who knows what the future will hold

Moving to OOTPX for the next season

We keep it moving!
* 4 sims a week during the season
* sims every day in the off season
* very few missed sims in all the years we have been running
* season takes about 7 weeks of real life time
* off season takes about 12 days
Current calendar

Some outside-the-game-engine features:
* each city has certain built in advantages
* annual organizational goal
* sandwich picks compensation for lost free agents
Commish does not run a team, instead handling these aspects of the league

=> Originally a “stats only” league, with no current player ratings; now we use only vague (1-5) ratings, and scouts, so you still must rely mostly on player performance
=> coaches and scouts on… Potential ratings are a somewhat more informative 1-10

We are fine with 1st time online players… It is competitive, but not cutthroat, and lots of us are glad to give help if you are just starting out
Time zone friendly… We have always had more than our share of GMs living outside the US, because we never do chat room drafts, where time zone is crucial

A few other rules in place:
* Strict limits on option years, salary incentives, unbalanced salaries
* rule 5 enabled
* June 1 ammy draft… Rounds 1-3 on forum; remainder in-game
* Hidden players enabled
* Morale system enabled
* Interleague play and DH off
* Suspensions off

DDB is a top-notch league with great owners and a fantastic, helpful commish. I highly recommend it for someone who wants an immersive OOTP experience in an online league.

We are just starting our off season and will need a new GM for Blackwood, one of the most successful teams last season. With our switch to OOTP9, it is likely we will have another vacancy or two in the coming days as well.

First come, first served.

We are nearing the end of another season, and it looks like we have one vacancy -- Kingsbury.

We have a rare mid-season vacancy -- our big city franchise Yancey. This is a team in need of rebuilding.

As another Dog Days season comes to a close, we look for new GMs for these three franchises:

Kendall Griffins -- The team's GM has been hands off for the past couple seasons, and it shows. The city has a built in advantage with pitching, but the team was a poor 10th in runs allowed this season. The team lost money this season but has an outstanding bankroll to work with. Supposedly, the team has only the 21st best minor league system, but I see several pitchers in the lower minors who could make it. Will have a very high draft pick in the coming draft.

Twin Falls Tigers -- Small market team that has been a perennial contender until this season. Will miss the playoffs this year, but not by much. 5th in run production, 7th in runs allowed, but they have some starting pitching to work with. Built in city advantage is speed. Has an above average minor league system.

Yancey Yellow Jackets -- Big city team which had to deal with financial problems lately, but is pulling out of the red. Doomed by a terrible offense this season, but you could do worse than rebuilding around young SP Hiang-ta Li and slugger Jerome Marbini.

email, if interested

Just finished my second season in this league... filled with dedicated, intelligent, active owners... and you really do become attached to your players and decisions in this league. If you are on the fence about taking the plunge, I would say take it!!! Beorn does a fantastic job as Commish... very smooth league.

As we move to another off season, we are looking to fill two vacancies, Kendall and Seneca Point.

Kendall is filled, but Seneca Point remains open, with opening day just around the corner.

A mid-season opening in Hood River -- a very competitive franchise, if anyone is interested.

Heading into the playoffs once again, and we have an opening in Greenwood, which played .500 ball this past season. The team has some offensive, but will need some starting pitching help to get back into the playoffs.
