Established Fictional-Talent Only With Twist
![]() the Money Ball Union The MoneyBall Union is entering its 27th season. We started with OOTP5 and have been using OOTP 6 for most of our existence. The league decided that it was time to make the switch and we are converting to OOTP9. The decision has caused several openings. The open franchises are: The Georgia Rebels Georgia Rebels Clubhouse - Out of the Park Baseball Report The Lexington Legends Lexington Legends Clubhouse - Out of the Park Baseball Report The Milwaukee Rage Milwaukee Rage Clubhouse - Out of the Park Baseball Report The Tulsa Drillers Tulsa Drillers Clubhouse - Out of the Park Baseball Report The Maine Guides Maine Guides Clubhouse - Out of the Park Baseball Report Relocations are possible but must be done through an official proposal (details are in the League Constitution). the Money Ball Union Constitution TMBU is a fictional, 24 team, talent-only league with participation and writing requirements. We use a human Player Agent to handle all contracts (arbitration is handled by the game AI). The Player Agent does not own a team. We currently have a $90 mil salary cap with $15 mil cash max. The league will be deciding soon what changes are needed for the conversion to OOTP9. All owner input will be welcomed. Any interested parties may contact me via PM or email scotto313atyahoo.com. It would also be helpful if you register for the league forums and post in the FAQ Newbies section. A simple post about you and the team that interests you will work. Our forums are quite active and can be considered the life-blood of the league. We have a fine collection of owners that are dedicated to winning and passionate about their team. Our online community is somewhat like a family. We argue like brothers on occasion but we value the league and the sum of its parts more than our own personal goals. The talent-only aspect also sets us apart from many other leagues. It can make the job of evaluating players so much more challenging when you never get to see their ratings. If you have been performing well in other leagues and are looking for a challenge, I highly recommend a talent-only league. The Player Agent aspect might be the best part of tMBU. We have gone through somewhere in the neighborhood of six different Player Agents since the league was founded in 2003. Every agent has brought his own personality to the role and our current agent is no exception. The human agent aspect might seem like a bad thing for some, but it really adds to our league’s identity. You can’t match the realism you get from dealing with an agent that is passionate and sometimes emotional about the contract he is negotiating. In my experience, all of the Agents have been a pleasure to work with when you lay out your proposal in a logical and well thought out manner. Come on over and join our league. We will welcome you with open arms. Like many long-running leagues, we have endured a few difficult moments that have matured us on an individual as well as a collective basis. In my biased opinion, tMBU is the best league around. Join and find out for yourself. |

I am Paul, the Savannah GM in the tMBU. I really enjoy both the writing aspect of this league and the Player Agent who is a key part of the league.
The league is so very much more interesting than leagues where you can see the ratings of players and I urge you - if you like writing about your teams, your league and the platform that you join up at the very least and hang around. The league is exceptionally well run and with such experienced GMs such as Scotto (above) as the Cleveland Rumblefish GM, it can't get better than this as a league. And really, can you get a better name for a team than the Cleveland Rumblefish? |

Many thanks to Scott for stepping up and running with this post. I've had the priviledge of being the commissioner of the tMBU for probably the past 1 1/2 years (real time) and while we do have our ups and downs like any league we always come through stronger and better than before.
I don't want to speak for anyone else but the first thing I do in the morning is check the tMBU boards for what's going on in the league. We aren't just baseball, we've become quite the community too. The expectations are high if you join our league. You'll be expected to write about your team or the league in general. You'll be rewarded for those efforts in the form of participation points which can be used in a variety of different ways to help your franchise. Conversely, failing to write will get you some of this: and you probably won't be around very long. With a deep pool of potential owners we can afford to be picky and selective in who joins our ranks. Swing by, check us out - you might never leave!

I'm the New Orleans GM and have been in the league since the inaugural draft. This is absolutely the best OOTP league I have ever been in and I have been in a lot. Tom does a great job as commish. We never miss sims, and the offseasons are smooth sailing as well.
One of the best things about the league in my opinion is that we move quickly. That is one of the main reasons we have been able to create such a rich history. |

Been in this league for many, many OOTP years and real life years. Been the Player Agent for a few years and loved it. Now back to being an owner.
What other league can you be the General Manager of the North Shore Honu from the beautiful islands of Hawaii and live there too? The owners in this league are solid and the only league I am in. So much to do there is no need to be in any other league other than tMBU. Click on the league link on the original post, make a username and jump into the discussion. The message boards are always chirping with stuff. Many, many posts per day from tons of owners. Nothing else to say other than this league is for you, Mr. online baseball league fanatic! |

Sounds interesting. Two questions:
Is any kind of IM software required? How often does one have to write articles? Thanks in advance for any replies.

No IM software is required. The articles that are written can be done at anytime. Currently you get 2 points for a team news article and 3 to 4 points for league articles or player spotlights. You need to reach a certain number of points by end of the season.

Zjl and Joshua - you've both been approved for board access. Introduce yourselves by filing out the mini-questionaire in the FAQ/Newbies section of the board. If things go well I see no reason why you cannot join us.

Love the player agent idea, not sure how it isincorporated in your league, but wouldn't it be cool to have players be in your fold to see which player agent is the wealthiest and most successful! Have there own fictional website featuring thier clients, etc
Have some sort of system where they can sign on new talent and represent them |

Yes we are.
We've just hit (and passed) the all star break, so if you get on board right now there's a chance you can influence the direction of your team going towards the end of the regular season. There are a couple of teams opening up who are genuine title contenders - this year! Get on board! |
