Hardball Heroes - A Total Sports World Production (Now converted to OOTP 9!)
Introducing Hardball Heroes in OOTP 9 - A Total Sports World Production Brought to you by: 3 longtime Commissioners combine to provide a retrospective look at baseball in the Golden Era Hardball Heroes, the latest baseball offering from Total Sports World (TSW), takes you back in time to a place where baseball was always played in the afternoon, where it was a game, a passion....a true American Pasttime. Hardball Heroes takes you back in time, to the mid-1930s, where all the major independent leagues of the early twentieth century played. A combined collaboration of over 17 real life years (and countless simulated seasons!) of Commissioner experience is provided to those who join what will become the largest OOTP online world ever created in a historical/fictional setting. The Current Year: It's 1936, the season is just finished, and as a further result of the Great Depression, teams are struggling to keep fans in the seats, and owners in the front office. General inquiries have been sent by the League Commissioners out to well known businessmen and baseball enthusiasts (You!). Your Commissioners: ![]() "The General" Mark Cooley (aka: Cooleyvol) Mark has been a longtime user of OOTP, going back to OOTP 2. While he has been in a variety of online leagues, his passion was fictional/historical type settings, which culminated in Glory Days Baseball, a historical league set in 1920 that he ran through the mid-30s. Mark is thrilled to put together Hardball Heroes, and created the movie and logo present in this announcement. Mark is the Founder of Total Sports World, and currently runs the highly successful Gridiron Glory, a Bowl Bound College Football league, with 119 active human owners currently in it. ![]() James "LB" LeBlond (aka: eMLBCommish) "LB", as he's known, has been a lifelong gamer, having run all kinds of leagues with his local friends back in his grammar school, high school, and college days. What LB really wanted was the ability to run a complete league with all teams owned. That became a reality as the internet evolved. After spending 1995 through part of 2000 learning how leagues were run, and what kind of effort it took to run one well, LB's dreams to be the ultimate entertainer became a reality as Electronic Major League Baseball (eMLB) was born in July of 2000. To this day, eMLB continues to operate, 8+ years and 17 seasons later using the same database of players and history. LB has been an OOTP Fan since OOTP 3. While he admits to being more of a modern baseball guy, LB is very knowledgeable about baseball's past, and excited to support this venture. LeBlond is a Board of Director and Director of Marketing for Total Sports World. ![]() Mike Dills (aka: USBACommish) Mike is another example of a dedicated Commissioner. Having inherited USBA from Scott Fite almost 2 1/2 years ago, Mike has solidly positioned USBA to be one of the best fictional leagues available in the OOTP world. Another fan of OOTP since OOTP 2, Mike is proud of the almost 6 years of USBA's existence, and looks forward to its continued tradition and longevity. Mike is a Board of Director for Total Sports World. The Setup: Included in the league are 7 leagues of 12 teams each, operating independent of each, but allowing trading amongst any of Hardball Heroes' 84 historical teams! What leagues are included: -- American Association -- International League -- Southern Association -- Pacific Coast League -- Independence League (Negro clubs) -- Latino League (Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican clubs) -- Texican League (Texas League and Mexican League clubs) Note: As of this post, there are 36 available teams. We are updating the Owners Page as much as we can. For more information on each team, go to the Hardball Heroes website. What it offers: -- Separate names db for each league giving true ethnic names to each league each year. -- Facegen altered to give correct faces to each set of players. -- Historical names db created just for this league. -- 154 game schedule for each league. -- Era correct financials/salaries. -- Era specific game results -- NEW!! League Champions will face off for bragging rights to declare who's the best champion that season! -- NEW!! Draft Picks permitted to be traded, even between different leagues! Total Sports World (TSW) is proud to present the latest of its highly successful and promising OOTP Leagues. To complement the highly successful eMLB (Modern Teams, Modern Players), and USBA (Fictional Teams, Fictional Players), TSW has added the element of yester-year in baseball by creating what will soon be the largest online OOTP World in a Historical Teams/Fictional Players setting. For more information, please visit the Hardball Heroes website, and see what teams are still available for the inaugural season. If you're interested in a team, please be sure to fill out our electronic application. Hardball Heroes - The Glory Days are Back! ![]() Last edited by eMLBCommish; 12-17-2008 at 04:46 PM. |

dola
We're entering our third season, and we're making some changes to retain the feeling yet also spruce up the activity. It's a work in progress, but a labor of love for the Commish Trifecta. We think the move to OOTP 9 is the best thing we could've done! We welcome those who've given us a shot before to try us out again, and those who're new to HH (or TSW in general) to check us out as well. First come, first serve! We're hoping to start the offseason ASAP!

We still have openings we'd like to fill. We've added 12 new GMs. This is a very unique experience, having 84 potential GMs in it.
We expect to get our offseason started by the weekend, so that we can keep things moving. We also want to extend an invitiation to those who have tried us out before, and left because it was OOTP 2007, or low activity. We feel we've added the right pieces, combined with a better gaming engine in OOTP 9 to make it worth a second look! Fill out the app listed in the first post! |

Last chance to join Hardball Heroes before we start the offseason. I expect we'll still have teams open, but we will have gotten the offseason going, and you'll miss out on your chance to sign FAs.
We will be starting the offseason tomorrow night! |

I sound like a broken record.
Absolute last chance before the offseason begins! We're advancing to the salary arbitration cases tomorrow night! Anyone who joins before then will get a shot at making extensions to potential FAs! |

Hopefully some more people here will consider this league. I think its size, setup, and genre is somewhat unique and the commishes are top notch. Take a look and grab a team today.

I'm interested in this league. Sounds like an overall great experience!
You guys may want to update your league rules a bit... it has a bunch of material referencing out of date things (from what I can tell), such as OOTP version, no trading of draft picks, etc. |

That is not surprising as we just switched over to OOTP 9 and rules are still being tweaked to provide the best opportunity for the league. This is a fantastic league to jump into, if you want to experience a historical league.

Friendly bump. We're getting ready to celebrate the 1937 New Year. There are still a fair share of teams available in a league that can have as many as 84 human owners.
We're starting to wind down Free Agency. Now is a good opportunity to join us before we start our 3rd season. See original post for more information. |

Finishing up the offseason this week, getting ready to draft and get into the season.
2/3 of the 84 Team League are human owned. We'd like to fill up more for this well thought out league! Come be a part of history....literally. |

We are now a little over 2 weeks into the regular season. There's still teams available, with the Texican League needing the most owners.
Hardball Heroes is a basic straightforward kind of league with the unique twist of 7 separate leagues with 12 teams each. That's 84 owners! No coaches or scouting. Historical baseball with 3 and 4 man rotations, barely using relievers, and old style play consistent with the era! Come give Hardball Heroes a look! The application to join is just above our main news page. (Banner) |
