WBH recruiting...
Guys,
There is a pretty cool league that you may have heard of called the World Baseball Hierarchy that I joined a few months ago that is now recruiting. The league had some turmoil with the Commish burning out, and then some flame wars on the boards that resulted in a new Commish and board of directors, but now all has settled and the league is going about getting teams filled before we start free agency. Despite all that has happened, it is a great league, and provides more challenges then just reaching the playoffs. If you like active trade wires and posting this is a good league for that because there are 88 owners to trade with, think of a normal league times 3 or 4. Admittedly 88 teams can seem overwhelming, but essentially you only have to compete against 8 of them. Each league has 8 teams (this may change slightly this off-season), so you can micro focus on them, all while looking for trade partners amongst the 88. I have the Toluca Toucans, probably the worst of all 88 teams. They were vacant last off-season and lost their top players to free agency after losing their playoff series. One of the guys the team lost is now the highest paid player in all the WBH. I made a few deals, and will have a high draft choice to start the rebuilding process. Hopefully I will get a promotion within a few years and start working my way up the ladder. Some of the teams available are really good teams, and already in a higher tiered league. The challenge for these teams would be to keep from getting demoted, while striving to climb to the top league (USA). League's main page is here: World Baseball Hierarchy Hierarchy set up is here: Hierarchy Open teams are listed here: World Baseball Hierarchy • View topic - *Updated* Recruiting Challenge If you do decide to join, let them know I recruited you, Toluca needs all the help they can get!! |

Hey,
I really like the premise behind your league. How many teams do you have available? I am relatively new to OOTP but have been having a blast since last October in another online league the PEBA, and I figure the more the merrier. Last edited by DOE; 02-06-2009 at 07:39 PM. |

Open teams as of last edit time:
Tier 2: Vertientes (JPN) - hung on to 3rd to avoid relegation last season. Needs starting pitchers, has lots of budget room to work with. Brooklyn (CUB) - needs more offense. Tier 3: Cienfuegos (JPN) - demoted to either VEN/DOM for next season, pending. Decent overall team, could use an ace, closer, and maybe a leadoff hitter. Anaco (VEN) - major league team has major holes, but has a good farm system and a solid offensive base. Vancouver (CAN) - Needs more starting pitching. Has a great closer (1.72 ERA over 7 seasons). Go Team Venture! Victoria de Las (KOR) - 608-592 historical record, but has never won a division in 10 seasons. Needs pitching. Tier 4: Chihuahua (MEX) - could use a leadoff hitter. Has a couple of super prospects coming along. Osan - probably filled, but not official yet. Note: player stats will seem low compared to MLB because we play a 120-game season instead of 162. A 30 HR, 75 RBI guy is like a 40 HR, 100 RBI MLB guy.

I am the GM for the Monterrey team in the WBH. I just wanted to post and say that this truely is a top notch league with lots of active GMs. You will not find a higher quality league with more dedicated GMs in the entire OOTP world.
We are looking forward to a great 2016 seson that will be starting soon that includes some new features that should make this league even better. Don't miss out on a rare opportunity to join the best that is out there and come check out the WBH and all it has to offer. The link to the home page if anyone missed it previously: World Baseball Hierarchy Be sure to go in the application section and fill out one if you are interested. I fully expect any and all openings to be taken quickly once prospective GMs see the quality of the league and everything that we have to offer. Don't miss out. You will not regret your decision to come join us. As a GM that has been with the league for 3 seasons now I can tell you that it is a great place to go get your OOTP fix!

Stay tuned for a new and modernized website coming within the week compliments of one of our GM's in the IT profession.
If you applied in the last day and haven't heard back - Brian's (our Commish) town was hit hard by a storm and has been without power for almost a full 24 hours. Talked to him via text today (he's my former college roommate so we're real life friends too) - I don't know of a timeline for his power coming back on, but its already been out for almost a day so I don't think it will last much longer. But anyways - it's a great league - evidenced by about 80-85 diehard WBH GM's. Now we just need to fill those last few spots for good! Are you up for the challenge?

New website is up. Take a look around fellas. Note that all of the reports that "pop up" rather than open in screen are still on our old website, thats why they pop up. We're working on converting them so they mesh with the new site and open in screen.

hey ptwarr,
Just curious here, I have been playing OOTP for years but have never played in an online league. I just started reading about these posted here and it looks like a lot of fun. On your application it asks for the OOTP resume but unfortunately I dont have any exciting things to put here. Can people new to the online thing join this or do you prefer seasoned veterans

There was an issue with our Application - it was storing aps in the wrong place and not sending them to the Commish - but that has been fixed and we filled 4 teams this morning. There are still a few teams left - but I think the openings will be short lived.
The only downside about the WBH in the past was the website, in my opinion - but that has now been fixed. We've got a new one up and running and it looks awesome.
