Desktop Baseball : A fast-sim online experience
![]() Desktop Baseball is a fast-sim league that operates on a six-day schedule. It's intended to be a GM league, meaning you focus on the higher level moves and leave the day-to-day roster tinkering to the Manager that you hire. This is a great league to have a second team where you can get the instant gratification of building and rebuilding a franchise often. Intended to be a low-key experience, nothing crazy or too intense. I just can't really handle playing any other way. Once you get into fast-sim, it's really hard to do anything else. But it's not for everyone. Read about it below and if you're intrigued, post here. Heading into the 7th season this week. ----------------- A league with 12 teams and a 144-game schedule. One league of two divisions (18 games against teams in your division/9 against the teams in the other division) Coaches are on, because the idea is that this is a GM-sim first, not a league aimed at who can tinker the best with their lineups, etc. Development modifiers are based on SkyDog/RonCo settings and the player creation modifiers are based on Dark Cloud’s. Talent change randomness is set to 50. There is no DH rule. Salary Cap is set to $75 million. You have to spend at least $5 million on player development, but you can allocate more of your cap towards that and if you do, you’ll see better prospects (no guarantee they’ll be any good, of course) enter your Academy team. You get allocated 5 academy players per off-season. The Academy roster cannot exceed 15 players. The league schedule operates on a 6-day schedule: Quote:
Here are the teams: Eastern Division New York Gothams Thunder Bay Storm Kansas City Beagles Dallas Drifters Providence Grays Washington Potomacs Western Division California Whiskeyjacks Virginia Dale Desperados Salinas Roadrunners Juarez Cachorros Tupelo Moonshiners Pocatello Bannocks |

I've received a few other replies from people who have implored me not to shelve the idea before it gets off the ground, so...I'll leave this post here and see what we can yield. I'm down for running it, still.

The league forum is online here: http://www.abaseballsim.com/board
The league file can be accessed here and the league images are here. The league file should be downloaded to a Desktop Baseball.lg folder in your OOTP saved games folder. The images can be saved in your Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\saved_games\Desktop Baseball.lg\news\images folder. The jerseys folder in that zip, should be saved in the Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\saved_games\Desktop Baseball.lg\jerseys\ folder

Not enough people. Fast-sim isn't fun with just a few people. So I just released the file.
I appreciate the scant interest, though.
