New to OOTP and/or generally stupid? I've got the league for you!

The FBBL has filled up nicely over the past few weeks. Some new blood looks like it might be there for a while. However, we still have a waiting list to fill. Unlike normal waiting lists though, this list doesn't suck. Allow me to explain.

While waiting for a major league team to open up, you run a college team, thereby allowing you to do SOMETHING while you're waiting. In addition to not being bored out of your mind, I can use this as a screening process. When a major league team opens up, I promote the college owner who has impressed me the most.

In addition, it serves as a place for new guys to get their feet wet. New to the game? No experience? I don't care. Screw up all you want, the players leave for the majors eventually anyway. It's a good way to get used to the concept of online leagues.

You can talk to me on AIM at FBBL Commish or mail me at crackpott@rogers.com. Of course the best thing to do would probably be to check out the site, read the rules (they don't apply to the college league, but you should know them anyway) and fill out an application. The league is at http://www.fbbl.net

Enjoy.

this didn't stay on the front page long... I guess not too many people will admit to being stupid, but being new is something that should be admitted to.

fell good

‘Generally stupid’ is not a demographic that most potential owners want to join. Call the Vice-commissioner of Marketing and Recruitment and tell him to initiate a new education campaign that will tell the world: this league is as beautiful as the redheaded angel of passion Laura Prepon! Sweet bliss unto ye who enroll in the FBBL, for yours is the Kingdom of Baseball. She comes not to destroy the league, but to fulfil, her rouge halo of grace illuminating the path unto baseball ecstasy.

Back in my "cruising for leagues" days, I looked at the FBBL... and wrote it off pretty quickly, mainly on the basis of the "is this a great league, or is it just crackpott's ego trip" issue. There's just too many references to kicking people out for this or that, owners being "stupid," etc., etc.

Having been around here for a while, I have since seen that the FBBL is a league that is beloved by its owners and clearly something special. The creative promotions are/were great, that's what gets people checking out the league in the first place. Personally, I'm not in the market for a super involved real players league, but if I were the FBBL would hands down be the first league I'd go for.

If the "crackpott uber alles" rhetoric on the website had been toned down a little bit, I'm sure I would have seen that to begin with.

Note that this is just my opinion... the bottom line is that you've got a fantastic league going, and if you're happy with it I'm certainly not trying to tell you otherwise. But if you're having a perisistently difficult time finding people for your league, you really should't be, and maybe this is part of the reason why.

I'm no longer having any difficulty trying to find owners for the major leagues... just the college league, which serves as an active waiting list for the majors.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "crackpott uber alles" but whatever. The whole "generally stupid" comment was made tongue in cheek. I know that there are some owners who think/know that they're not at the online league level of others, and although that doesn't make them stupid, I usually like to exaggerate the claim. I expect people to be able to have a sense of humour about themselves, so..

Anyway, still 6 spots left in the college league. Get 'em while they're... while not hot, but reasonably stale. Just microwave them for a bit and you'll never know the difference.
