Yes, I know it sounds silly, but that's because IT IS!
Positions are now available in Solonor's Groovy Computer Baseball League. This is a new, career-mode fantasy league that we will be starting soon. It will be run much like any other OOTP league - with one twist. All of the team names and players will be based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. I know it's UBER-GEEKY, but I think it will be tons of fun. So far, we have the Bree Cheese, the Mirkwood Marauders, the Isengard Raiders, the Mordor Mimes, the Dead Pool Urukai, the Lonely Mountain Losers and more coming. I'd like to have 24 teams before we start. So far, we have 10. E-mail solonor AT solonor DOT com, if you are interested. |

Ha! I knew I should have searched the board first to see if it had been done. Not exactly the same, but very cool. Consider me the alternative to Laseron whenever it is full!

What?
No, Minas Tirith Sable Guards or White Trees No Numenore Kings No Angband Balrogs (or Dark Lords) No Gondolin Hidden Warriors No Edoras Riders No Laketown Archers ?? No Nargothrond Dragons? ![]() Just kidding. I think this is a cool idea, but then, I'm a big Tolkien fan. Best of luck, it will certainly be fun to watch this league.

Used to. Actually, this all started because I couldn't think of a decent name for my conferences and divisions. Someone suggested the Shire Conference and the Mordor Conference, and it just took off from there.

FYI, all teams are filled now, and the season starts today. Thanks for the team name suggestions. We actually used a couple of them!

The Orcs in the league should hit a lot of HRs. Of course they will probably strike out a ton too

Hehe, nice league
in my old league, WWBL, I took over the Grand Rapids Ghost Riders...
Once I got into my teams second season, I fired my old coach, and brought in Lord Nazgul to lead the troops. He handed all 9 players, human players mind you, rings of power with which he could control them on the field. Wurmtongue and Sarumon were my base coaches. Had I been able to name other members of the organization, it would have gone all hobbit for the field crew, with Sam being the guy at the end of the hose. |

Well, we're almost done with 2003, and it was a blast! There are 5 or 6 teams out of the 24 that will not be continuing into 2004. So, anyone wants to join, just let me know!

We are at the All-Star Break of the 2004 season, and we have a couple of teams available to active owners. If you are interested in a completely fictional 24-team league where the teams and most player names are Tolkien-flavored, we'd love to have you. Other than all the Tolkien silliness, it's good ole OOTP baseball.

Five games left in the 2005 season, and we're going stronger than ever. We might have 1 or 2 teams available after the playoffs, but drop us a line if you are interested. We are not averse to expansion, if needed.

Tolkien League
To fully embrace the Tolkien idea, the Tolkien league would have an unassailable record book, as all things in the past on Middle Earth were larger, greater, and more impressive.

"Mauhur the Looter sets a new Mordor record for Stolen Bases"
Was that a random news story that happened to come up? Because that makes it funnier ![]() I'm interested in signing up. I'm looking to get into an OOTP league, and I LOVE the idea behind this one! |

Last chance! We're starting 2006 and have 2 teams left... It's the "dorkiest and nerdiest league ever"... How can you resist!
![]() (FYI, we are sticking with OOTP5 for this season.)

The "dorkiest and nerdiest league" is winding up its 2006 season and heading into 2007. We have 3 teams available for new owners. And this season we're switching to OOTP6!
Let me know if you are interested. If you want to preview the current state of the teams up for grabs, go to our web site at http://solonor.com/baseball/ and check out the Moria Miners, Gondor Condors and Isengard Raiders.

That was quick! We got the 3 new owners lickety-split. So, we're all full up for 2007. But we run through a season in about 6 months, so if you're interested in 2008, please drop us a line!
