Anyone ever Seen this"obpbsl" ?? FREAKY?/ LOL OR B/S?

Well i joined a sim called obpbsl with a guy named Adam running it. We had a draft and he evened all the teams market size and fan interest of all teams. And he gave all teams the same Broadcasting revenue at 30 MIL( 17 national, 13 local)

Now i know im not wrong in the fact the TV MONEYS ARE CONTRACTS RIGHT? Like 13 mil through 06, and 17 mil through 06
Just like a player. Now these contracts would not get bigger or smaller until the contracts are up and done with and time to renew right?

Well, after the 1st 2 week sim my Broacasting revenue is back down to 22 mil. And i asked the commish, he said, "the game must have changed it based on something, its weird." i said B/S, its a contract and if it is changed to 30 Mil through a certain year those TV contracts do NOT CHANGE.

SO regretfully i had to quit this league as obviously the commish had something against me. And one team's "SET IN STONE CONTRACTS WENT UP TO 33.5 MIL" Must be a good friend of the commish, Because every other team stayed at 30 million like they are supposed to.

But My Tv guys i made contracts with for 30 Mil decided after 1 sim to say, "HEY, WE ARENT KEEPING THE CONTRACT TILL 06, WE ARE CUTTING IT DOWN NOW, LIKE IT OR GET OVER IT!!" LOL

I just wanted to see what people thought

I have never seen them change but don't know for sure, I would not think they would.

Obpsbl is a league full of immature 15 and 16 year olds--- i suggest joining a more mature league--- i was in it and quit as well-- there is a crew with the commish and his buds 3-4 people who'll run the entire league the way they want it without asking any of the owners.....

sorry you wasted your time with that league, but its probably good that you got out now... i dont forsee that league lasting long

Well, things were worked out, i think i know the problem, i think he adjusted the markets right before we all sent in team files for the sim, therefor the files we sent had our original Revenue's erasing over what he had just put in.

I was also in it. I don't wanna say anything harsh about the commish, I would just say that the league was poorly organized.

Yes, it has been cleared up...and what happened was that once I had the revenues all set equal, once I imported some team files before the sim which had the old values in it, it over wrote some of the revenues again. It has been worked out.

Also....I would like to comment on the league being immature. The league is in the early stages, and yes there are/were some immature kids in it. I have since gotten rid of 2 of them which partly ruined the initial draft. It takes a while to weed out the youngins, but hopefully we can do that sooner than later and make this a successful league. I can understand some of the frustration, and I apologize, however, to say that the league is run by a "crew with the commish and his buds 3-4 people who'll run the entire league the way they want it without asking any of the owners" is very unfair. Actually, one of the assistant commishes is a guy I didn't even know, and since he helped out a great deal at the draft, I awarded him a part of the league. I have always asked the league what they were in favor of, and always came to a compromise. "illusionlude" and I talked about this issue in full, and we are both on the same page. It was an honest mistake and not any action of wrongdoing.

I hope it's all clear now.

Thanks.

How does importing a roster file overwrite financial information?

I didn't think it did either. I'm almost afraid to do it again.

Steve: Could you clear this up?

Here is what happened. I had the league file....changed all the financial information (Team Marketing, Fan Support, Broadcasting Revenues) to be the same. I then imported rosters (not all of them as some never got them in on time). Then we noticed that for some teams, the financial information was changed again. Any logical reasoning?

Well, he did not make all the teams financials the same at the start, he made the league file available for download before he evened this out. So we downloaded a league file where all the financials were different. Then he changed all the stuff on his game b4 he recieved all out team exports. So when he brought all the team files into his game im guessing it would erase those financial changes he did because the ones we were sending in were before the changes occured.

That's not possible; At least I hope its not. It goes against everything I have ever read/heard/understood about the game and would be a major, major flaw in online play. I was being somewhat facetious, but if you're taking that at face value, best of luck with your involvement.

Financial information is included in team imports. That's why it's important to password protect the league file so that owners can't tamper with this information.

That's a very good point. I would have assumed the commissioner would have the foresight to password-protect his league, however.

The owners didn't tamper with this information. Like Illusionlude stated....some of the owners had an older version of the league file (one that did not include the updated financial data for all teams), so when we did the import rosters, the financial data was over written for those teams with the older data.

As for the immature thing, the IABL was awful when it first started. However, we are mid way through the 2nd year, and most of the kiddies are gone. The ones that remain are pretty good GMs. So, be patient .. the league might mature on its own in time.

That's what I am hoping. I have spent a lot of time working on this league, and will continue to do so. I don't even mind having kids in the league as long as they can act in a mature way. I won't be putting up with bickering back and forth, and things of that nature....but it does take time before you can weed those people out.

Driver, In fairness, this is a true possibility. I had something similar happen with the USBA when importing directly after making changes to a team's finances.

I just started a new league with a fantasy draft (FIBB link below). I also spent time and equalizing all the finances pre-draft. We drafted away, all 60 rounds (50 of them human picking). Well, after the draft, OOTP automatically went through and set lineups for each team and adjusted all my financial numbers even though every team was on HUMAN control. I had never done imports and I tested it again to verify.

This is obviously a bug in the OOTP code when you start a league with a fantasy draft. It will hose everything up once the draft has completed and you have to go through and re-set all the finances. This sounds like exactly what happened to obpbsl.
