Interesting New League Seeks Vice Commisioner
Hi,
I plan on starting an as-yet-unnamed league using MLB rosters. The league will not actually start until OOTP6 is released and a roster set for OOTP6 with 2003 stats and development is available (a "winter meetings" set will probably do, as we can emulate the rest of the offseason in our league simply by making trades). Even though it won't start probably until early 2004, I believe the more time we prepare the better the league will be. The purpose of the league will be to emulate what could possibly happen to the MLB in coming years. The opposite of a historical league, if you will. For example, when the current CBA expires in 2007, we will "negotiate" a new one. For clarification, check out the solo International Baseball League in my signature. While our MLB might not change to IBL, it might, depending on the owners' preferences at the time. Hell, I might not even be commisioner anymore when we get that far (just like Selig might not be commish of MLB in 10 years). My plans include selected MLB transaction rules, depending on the features of OOTP6. I don't plan to extend the realism to boring, nitpicky things like complex waiver rules, but rather to events that will give the leauge character. For example, when negotiation contracts with players, I hope to introduce a concept in which the team GM talks directly with myself or another league officer who will act as the player's agent. This way, you can present your arguments and I will present mine, and we can implement interesting contract tidbits such as no-trade clauses. Similarly, for arbitration, we will actually go through the process of arbitration, the owner will present a case and a figure, and so will the "agent." Another league officer will choose which figure to go with. All these examples are tentative and they will all be looked at and discussed between now and the start of the league. Right now, send me an email (theDoubleH@hotmail.com) ONLY if you are interested in being Vice Commisioner. The VC's duties will include website, utilities such as BOSI and Cato's History (if we choose to use them) and agent/arbiter as needed. As soon as I have a VC, and we have created a name, made more specific the league's purpose, and begun work on a website, I will post again asking for applicants for GM. Please do not email me at this point if you want to be a GM. Email me only if you want to be VC or are interested in being another officer of the league (duties will be determined later, but if you want to help I won't stop you). If you are interested and have ideas for rules, etc, hold on to them, but save them for later. All officers in the league, including Commish and VC, may not run a team. Thanks for your attention, Henry Harrison theDoubleH@hotmail.com theHx2 on AIM

bump
forgive the bump, but the nature of the post solicits more emails than replies, so by necessity it must be bumped

Quick update:
I am currently working with PHP Nuke and I think I will be able to set up the web site by myself. If you think you could bring more to the table, by all means give me an email. But if that doesn't apply to you, only email me if you are interested in helping set up the league and run it once it starts, and if you have no intention of being an owner. Thanks, HH

Hey Slant!
I am in the process of working on a league very similar to what you are looking for. Maybe we can both get together and work on something. If that is not in your plans, that will be totally fine with me. |

The site is up! http://futureleague.net We still aren't looking for owners until we complete the rules. We'll keep you posted.

hey, which logos are yours, the team logos? I had a whole collection of logos on my hard drive and those were the ones I decided to use. Very nice.
(now that I know who made them, I'll credit you )
