Trimming online league file size
Ive been searching everywhere for how to trim down the league file, Ive been deleting everything older than the last sim's date, but still cant get the league file under 6.5MB The problem is the players.dat file is 21MB!! How do I shrink this without cutting players? Im sure its not possible.. but how is everyone else getting these smaller league files.. Doesnt make any sense.

I have no clue how your player.dat file is 21 megs, there must be something messed up in your league, do you have liek 8000 players or something, jeez. My league file is slightly under 2 megs and this has been consisten with all of the leagues I have been in.

I think your problem is how many minor leagu players you have.

I think what he is talking about is how some league have two downloads.
1. The entire league file 2. The most recent sim. Go http://www.invitationonlysports.com/IOSBL/index.php that website has two seperate down loads. one for the weekly update and a complete league file.

Another thing you can consider is this:
One file with only the core files (ie no text files) Another file with the text files (ie all the folders) I have a players.dat that's 18.6 MB in size (through 105 years of simming). My core file zip is just over 1MB. I sim everyday, so it's imperative that this file be small for the league owners to continually check everything. So, this is how I go about it. -John |

League files questions...
Specifically see Matteo's step-by-step directions. That will get your league file to 2.5 MBs. The league file includes a buttload of HTML that is not necessary because the game generates the HTML when it is requested from the OOTP client. |

I typically add the entire league into a zip file and the delete all files that were not updated in the previous sim. That file typically runs 1.0 to 2.5 megs.
At least 2 times a season I put the entire league file (15 to 20 megs) in a zip and post it. This way those GMs that have not kept up with every download can get a refresh every once in a while. |

But thats just the thing, even if I delete nearly all of the HTML, I still have a 21MB players.dat so I am still stuck with a 6 MB league .zip Id really like some input as to why my players.dat file is that large, how large is other poeples after only one season...
