Do you need to buy the game to play in a league?

Alot of online leagues will require it, but you'll find that there are many which don't.

Yes you should buy the game. Very few leagues will allow you to play without the game and those leagues are usually very low end.

Why should you play for free when everyone else has paid for the game? Plus if you don't own the game then most people will not take you seriously and figure you are just a little kid who can't get the money from mommy or daddy to buy the game.
Not to mention you miss out on the real fun of OOTP which is actually playing...something you can't do without the game.

BUY THE GAME!
