How do you trade draft picks

I am currently in an online league, and would like to know how to trade draft picks. The person currently running the league doesn't know how, and I thought I had seen it done here, so I would like to know how it is done so I could tell the person running the league. Thanks a lot, and if it's not possible then I guess I saw wrong and sorry for wasting your time

You can't really trade picks.

People have a work around where you create a player named "#1 Draft Pick" on the team who is giving away their pick and trade him for a player. After the draft is held, you simply trade the actual #1 draft pick for the fake "#1 Draft Pick" then delete the fake player after the trade is complete.

You could do that also, but alot of track keeping, and alot of creating and deleting. I'm pretty sure with Pierre's you just have to exit out after every round and set the order. Alot easier I would think.

Pierre's utility allows you to change who owns which picks, round-by-round, at draft time, but if you want to trade picks before the draft takes place you have to do sort of what 64210 stated above. Create a scrub, change his name to A 1st rounder, A 2nd rounder, etc., sign it with the team that's going to trade the pick and trade it for the player in question. Then release the scrub so it stays in the free agent pool for later use. The transaction page will show that Player X was shipped to Team Y in exchange for A 1st round.

Or, you can do this:

1. Write down the player's contract(s) that are being dealt
2. Edit the contract to a minor league contract
3. Release him
4. Sign him to the team that traded for him
5. Edit his contract back

As for keeping track of who has which picks, BOSI does it, or you'd have to do it by hand.

If Pierre's DP utility is for OOTP5 (I keep hearing all of his stuff was for OOTP4), then where can I acquire said utility?

Thanks,
JSB

The same utility that worked for v4 works for v5.

I've used it for a long time to edit draft orders.

Most excellent. Where do I acquire said utility? (I'm sure it's in the MODS section, but I'm hoping you'll allow me to be lazy)

Some leagues put stipulations in that atleast 1 player has to be dealt from both sides. Therefore, you wouldn't have the creating and deleting problem.

Whether those estipulations are around or not, you can do what Joe said. Creating (deleting is not necessary) a scrub to trade as a draft pick is more for reviews purposes, as it lets you look back later on and check what was the complete deal without needing to edit the history files.

Of course, if you use Cato, then the trade won't show up if you do this (unless you add it to the ltrans.htm page afterwards...)

I always just edit the ltrans.txt file and the appropriate ttrans files to get this info to show up.
