Is this possible with IP addresses?

I'm all about league security, and well, I did some searching on IP's for all the teams that have posted so far on my forums. This is what I have come up with:

Team A
Team B
Team C

These 3 teams have shown that they have posted from 5 differen't IP addresses. The interesting thing is...all 5 IP's are differen't, but each team has the same differen't 5.

Then I look at Team C and they have 2 differen't IP addresses. The first checks out fine, but their second IP matches 1 of the 5 IP's that were listed above.

When I say IP addresses, I mean the #'s...like 287.37.297.278(random #'s)

If you would like to know these guys teams so you can shed some light on them if you've dealt with them, get ahold of me please.

I would like to know if this is possible, or what is the deal with that?

Update, when questioning one of the teams he said he was suprised at me questioning him about IP's and he's been around too long and it's the first he's ever been questioned. BTW- He feels it's best we part on "mutual" ways.

He is prolly still running one of the other teams still. I think the whole thing is very very fishy.

Updated again. I am the individual that he is refering to. As I told him when he question me I really do not have an answer to that question. For the record the teams in question were my team which was San Diego, San Francisco and Oakland.

Now if anyone has an answer to this please do let me know, as I am not a expert in the area of IP addresses. My name is Angel Perez and my screen name is Kool A138.

If the 3 owners are with AOL (scary thought, 3 in one league), it is possible they could have the same IP address.

it is known AOL tends to screw up the IP's.

That actually has happened to me....

Ironically on Cuss16's GFBL. I signed up via Forum to have my namesake be added to the player pool...ect..ect...someone I believe either that night or the next day (not really sure)...signed up and it showed up as the same IP as mine did.....I'm guessing that we were both AOL users....anyway...it can happen....

Yup, AOL is cheap so they re-use and force others to use the same IP address. This can cause many problems for many things, mainly online games that allow only 1 account per IP address. So if you've got AOL, there is your answer. If you don't have AOL, then I think you need put a secure password onto your Wireless Cable (if you use it) because it sounds like some of your neighbors are leeching off your cable. Of course, that's just the conspiracy theorist in me speaking...

I don't really have an answer, but can vouch for Angel as being on the level, as far as being an owner goes. He's competitive, active, and above all, honest. He was held with VERY high regard in the iMLB, and he's someone I'd choose as an owner...if I advertised my leagues, like my new football league coming up.

Anyway, this is still a very touchy subject, and tough for the owner of the league to do, either way. It's a lose-lose situation, so the only thing I could say, and I think the commish learned the hard way, is...don't do anything until you're absolutely sure, either way.

All I did was ask him about it. Never pointed the finger or anything, because I didn't know 100% how the IP's work.

I am the Oakland A's GM and have no ties at all to the accused. We are completely different people and dont even know each other. I do not know how the IP addresses got messed up nor am I an expert on IP addresses but all i wish to say is that the accused owner is innocent and in the league i was in with him before, he was held in the highest regard.

...which is why you don't bring it up until you do. I would never accuse my owners of anything until I had certain proof.

I know you had a decision you felt you had to make...but surely there was no timetable on it. Now you've lost a very good owner, and it was because you weren't even sure about how IPs work.

This is a valuable lesson to anyone who wants to be a commish. I don't want to fault this guy for anything, other than jumping the gun too quickly. But not doing that is of utmost importance to the league's stability.

I can also vouch for Angel. He's a classy guy. It has to be an issue with AOL.

I've made a mistake as an commissioner, it's part of the process. I apologise, and I probably did handle it the wrong way, but there's no fixing it. You just have to learn from your mistakes.

Again, my apologies.

I would also like to vouch for Angel. I'm in two leagues with him and I have the utmost respect for him as a league member.

The questioner named no one, and both sides gave their points of view. Had I been the questioned owner, I wouldn’t have immediately quit the league, since the Commish was only investigating.

Hang in there ud411, you didn't make a mistake if you didn't accuse him. At worst you just made a hasty decision based on insufficient facts. Those berating you for what you did is more judgmental than what you did.
