Idea for league

I have this idea for a league that I've been going over in my head and I wanted to put it out there. I have no idea if this kind of thing has been tried before, because I've never done an online league, so bear with me. I won't be able to start or run this league anytime soon, and anyone who can is free to use the idea. Just let me know so I can check it out.

The idea is to have a league where there are not just owners, but player agents. Participants in the league can be one or the other (owners or agents). Not all players will have agents. Those that don't will be handled as usual. Those that do will negotiate with teams through the agent.

The agent will try to get them the best deal. Agents who perform well in that task will get more and more of the big named players coming to them (perhaps at the expense of other agents, even). The commish would have to be very active in figuring out which players would have agents, how many players an agent could have, and how this all would work.

Anyway, this opens up a whole new can of worms when it comes to dishonesty, but this would hopefully be controlled for by the fact that players who got bum deals would drop the agent who got them the deal.

There would be a lot more work in this kind of league. In fact, players with agents could even have more complex contractual structures, like no-trade clauses. Players might even let agents know of personal preferences, like "I want to play on the West Coast" or something. I just think it would make things very interesting.

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions? It's nothing in any way imminent. It would probably be a couple of years before I could even start something like this, but I just wanted to present the idea for others to possibly use if they liked it.

I think that has been done. withough great success also i might add. Biggest beef with it was that the "Agent" Doesn't have enough duties to keep him interested.

i'm surprised nobody's done a female league (or am i wrong?)...what with all the people with girlie avatars around here, it's surprising there isn't some female fantasy face pack floating around here...

Yeah, OakJefferson and I are running a similar league now, albeit with only one agent (me). We just started simming, but I expect contract extension talks to begin soon. If you're interested in seeing some of the formulas I'll be using, email me privately.

Perhaps I could figure out a way to get the agent more involved.
