POTD Opening - A GEM of a Team

POTD is currently nearing the completion of 2008, its sixth season, and one of the most prestigous teams in the league's history is currently open, the Oklahoma Twisters. While they are currently a disappointing 79-70 and out of the race in 2008, they are a team that with proper care and management could easily restore the glory they once had during the league's first five seasons.

Just how good have the Twisters been thus far? From POTD's inaugural season in 2003, the Twisters have been the model of dominance, posting a cumulative regular season W/L record of 570-389 (good for a .594 wp%). Here's how they've done season by season...

2003: 99-63, Appy South Division Champs (lost in LDS in 4 games)
2004: 101-61, Appy League Champs and Appy South Division Champs (lost in WS in 6 games)
2005: 94-68, Appy League Champs and Appy South Division Champs (lost in WS in 7 games)
2006: 102-60, Appy South Division Champs (lost in LCS in 6 games)
2007: 95-67, POTD World Series Champ and Appy Wildcard Winner
2008: 79-70 and currently in 2nd place (mathematically eliminated from postseason)

While the Twisters have aged somewhat over the past few seasons, they still have some dominating players catcher Daniel 'Knock On' Wood, 3B Mel 'The OBP Machine' Vaz and SP Wilfredo Martinez. Also now starting to produce for the Twisters are young stars C/1B Lawrence Pierro and SP Andreas Jasmin. Like stated earlier, with proper management this team could be right back to where they've been the past five seasons as they've got the firepower to put up another impressive run.

POTD is a 28-team fictional league with a $90 million salary cap and a $25 million cash cap. Sims are live on Tues/Thur/Sun at 10pm eastern time with seven days simmed each sim.
