Green Monsta league needs 3 (12th season)

The Green Monsta league currently has three openings, Boston, Baltimore and Calgary.

This league started with players in 1975 with a draft, each team has drafted All-Time Great players over the seasons, while also creating fictional players.

This was my first online league, and it has set the standard in what I look for in other leagues. Steve is a great commish, if you're new to online leagues he'll answer questions, help you along and, except for the DH, he will ask for, listen to and consider any suggestions* to make this league even better.

In fact, as a result of my total domination of this league for the first 8 years, the Green Monsta League has made some changes and added several rules to help those lacking in GM skills to become competitive and enjoy the league.

The biggest change was realignment and the addition of a wildcard team to the playoffs. 8 out of 18 teams make the playoffs now, so with divisional races and wildcard races, most teams have a shot at making the playoffs. (this year is lacking any divisional races, but past seasons have seen some go down to the last week of the season, entering August 1986, I'd say 6 out of 9 teams in the AL and 5 of 9 in the NL are still in the race) Considering the playoffs are a crapshoot, a championship is never out of reach.

"But what if you're one of the 6-7 teams that really suck?" you ask, "Your fan interest and attendance revenue will surely drop, and you'll never be able to compete, right?"

Not in the Green Monsta League! We have a minimum fan interest level, if your team drops below that level it gets reset to the minimum at the start of the next season. Your fans are brainwashed and they totally forget how crappy the team was the previous season, or they're overly optimistic each opening day, depending on how you want to look at it.

"That's all well and good," you say, "but what about the money?"

Well, any team that finishes below the league average revenue will receive a revenue handout the next season from the league to try to get them to the league average.** That's right, the league will subsidize your stinky team that your own fans won't come to watch, so if you can at least maintain your level of stinky-ness, you're guaranteed to have the league average of revenue to work with.

"OK," you're thinking, "almost NHL proportioned playoffs to maintain owner interest during the season, generous rewards for less than mediocre results, you almost got me, but there must be some type of punishment for teams that are successful, right?"

Right you are! The Green Monsta doesn't have the hard salary cap you're probably accustomed too, but a soft cap that is based on the highest revenue from the previous season. Teams are only allowed to lose a certain amount without penalty based on a percentage of that revenue. The truly evil teams that exceed that amount will have a player suspended the next season for an amount of games based on how much over they went.***

Also, any team that makes the playoffs and has a payroll in the top 6 in a year that fictional players are created (every couple of years I think, but I've lost so many I'm not really sure) will lose any rights to their fictional players. Considering that All-Time Greats and fictional players are the bulk of the Monsta's stars, that is a huge handicap.

Can people outside of the US be GM's? Only reason I ask, is that I was accepted earlier this year, but my ISP was deemed to be a risk by the forum and I couldnt sign up.Damn disappointment,lol. Would be interested if I knew I would be able to access the forum.
