The Western Hemisphere Baseball League Moving to Offseason. Has A Few Openings.
Hello guys and gals,
The WHBL, a fantasy-based league with fictional players, has finished it's inaugural season, and is looking to fill a few holes. We've got a really great core group of owners, including disposableheros, remangiii, gubaru and many more fantastic folks. We lost only one owner during the regular season, but unfortunately we have a few that won't be continuing with us into season two. We're an OOTP6 league that uses BOSI v2, Catobase, and are integrating Wiki to have a living written history that owners can alter themselves and add to anytime. We're a highly collaborative group that's improving the tools we use to have fun in the league whenever we can. We offer the opportunity (among other options), to re-design your own team logo, and even change the team name and create a new logo. I strongly recommend reading the league backstory before you sign up, as we have an interesting twist on the fantasy concept that places us only a few notches away from coulda been reality. The backstory can be found here: http://www.whbl.net/history.html Below are the links to all the currently available teams, as well as the rules. Jump on them now if you can. Offseason FA bidding begins tomorrow and runs throughout next week, so you'll want to get in on the ground floor to make sure your team goes in the direction you want them to. If you're interested in joining, either head over to the forums, sign up and then post to claim your team, respond to this thread, or just PM me. Thanks for looking! -EB Teams Currently Available: Caracas Cocodrilos ![]() BOSI: http://www.whbl.net/BOSI/team.php?G_tid=28 HTML: http://www.whbl.net/leaguesite/team28.html Notes: 84-78 last year, but in the WHBL's toughest division. You want a real challenge? Take Caracas and give the WHBL champion Port-au-Prince Nez Longue a run for their money. Caracas also has a top 10 minor league system. Rio de Janeiro Cariocas ![]() BOSI: http://www.whbl.net/BOSI/team.php?G_tid=25 HTML: http://www.whbl.net/leaguesite/team25.html Notes: Rio (83-79) made a close run for the division crown, and there's no reason they won't be back in contention again next year against rivals Buenos Aires and Santiago. Ain't that the truth!
Great league, though. Eric is so helpful, I'm not exactly sure if he's human.

This is a fantastic league with a great core of owners and is run in a very professional and efficient manner. I truly reccomend you give it a look if your interested in joing a fictional league.

As another member of the league, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in on how much I have enjoyed playing in the league...As a veteran of playing in online leagues for about 4 years now(ok so maybe 4 years isnt really all that long, but long enough), I think this is easily the most customizable league and one of the most open minded commishes around...Played in alot of good leagues, but I think this one tops em all...

I just spent awhile looking over the DC club. Really solid team, built around pitching and defense and speed on both offense and defense. The starting 5 could be the best in the league, (its #5 is probably a 10/8/8 phenom in his first full year). Anyone who likes to hit-and-run and be aggressive on the basepaths would really like the lineup that's currently in place. And, except for two of the starters, the principal components are all signed multiple years. A chance to have success immediately and through a 3-4 year window of opportunity. I'm tempted to switch over from Jacksonville. Whoever picks them up, I hope knows what they're doing, cause otherwise I'll enjoy beating you in our intra-division matchups.

Cali is now taken and the end of draft is approaching; so, the season will be starting soon.
For the teams left: Caracas -- Best hitter: 28 year old 3B Joseph Furlow Best pitcher: 29 year old SP Michael Rigg DC -- Best hitter: 32 year old LF John Robertson Best pitcher: 24 year old SP Bernardo Paez Rio -- Best hitter: 34 year old C Nicholas Howton Best pitcher: 30 year old SP Paul Alexander This league has been a lot of fun and the owner base is mature and helpful. Eric puts a lot of effort into it and it shows. |

How does this all work? If I claimed DC how would everything work out. Would I just dowload the file after Sims have taken place and make any roster changes, coaching philosophies etc, and then upload back to the Commish and he would then Sim the next week. Am I on the right track?

Thanks, I may consider starting my own league and just administering it. I won't even own a team, I'll just be the commissioner. It would be cool to see how all the owners think. It would be a fictional league with whatever team each owner submits.
