All Century League Needs Owner for Red Sox
A few weeks ago, we posted here in search of two new owners for the All Century League. We were lucky enough to have two lucid and relatively sober individuals among the avalanche of respondants.
I am now in search of one more similarly blessed individual. First of all, if you are interested, please go to the afore-mentioned thread for a synopsis of the league, links to the web site and discussion board, and the many humorous replies. All Century League has 2 openings So what is going on, you ask, and why are we looking for another owner? Well, the league finally did some soul-searching, some lower intestinal convulsing, and some much-needed purging. All right, I'll be less cryptic (and less septic); the All Century League has a) dumped some flotsam owners, and b) it has *contracted* from 24 teams to 20 teams. The purging was something that had to be done. A small number of franchises were almost on auto-pilot, except that these rogue owners couldn't even be bothered to open the game and hit "auto lineup". What we have remaining are 19 good, honest, dedicated owners and 1 available team. What does this mean to you, the hard-working OOTP-lover looking to join a major online league? Why, more pay, better benefits, and lunch every day at Hooters, of course. Now seriously, what it means is, if you join immediately, you'll be taking the reins of the highly desirable Boston Red Sox franchise. In terms of winning percentage, only one other team in the ACL's history has a better overall winning percentage. PLUS there's going to be a dispersal draft! Even for the hard-core online GM, a dispersal draft is an uncommon, if not rare event. Given the all-star nature of this league, that means some really hot talent is going to be available. Who, you ask? How about Christy Mathewson, Al Kaline, Dwight Gooden, Rogers Hornsby, Reggie Jackson, Rube Waddell, Bob Feller, Jack Chesbro, Rod Beck. And many, many more! However, YOU MUST ACT NOW!!! The lists for Round One of the dispersal draft are due by 8:00 am CDT, Monday, October 11. Round Two follows on Wednesday and Round Three on Friday. The 1918 season will begin the following week. If you are interested, please email us by the end of business on Saturday, October 9. (This will allow enough time for the new owner to peruse his/her new team and draft a list for the dispersal draft.) Please also give a brief synopsis of your OOTP and online league experience. If you are serious about being an active participant in a fine all-star style league, please consider joining. Email us at: uvl AT olympus DOT net Thanks for your time and consideration. Hmmm, 27 views (25, if you subtract the commish and me), and no reply.
Okay, well, the Red Sox are still gonna be available, even though the contraction draft will take place without a replacement owner. If you have an interest, please send an email (email addy is in the above post) or post on the ACL message board. Jay "This happened once before, when I came to your door, no reply" |

Wow, Rod Beck?? Count me in!!!
Ohhh, wait a minute...I'm already in...never mind. Seriously, I'm one of the new owners, and this would be a great time for someone to jump into the league. We're pretty much done with the threats, name-calling and personal attacks of the off-season, and just about ready to start the threats, name-calling and personal attacks of the regular season! |
