IBPL, new players league, opens the vault

Are you tired of joining a players’ league where you end up as nobody? IBPL wouldn’t like that to happen.

The home page is not yet finished but there is an OOTP League Site already and a forum where most of the happenings are there.

General Overview

The IBPL, International Baseball Player League, handles a league of 4 teams, divided into two separate leagues.

It is free to partake in IBPL. On the other hand, members and owners alike are expected to be polite and follow the golden rule at all times.

Franchises are fictional; there is no City name, just plain nickname. Players in this league will be fictional too; it will be based on your submitted application form.

You are only allowed one player per person. Whoever is caught breaking the rule will be banned ASAP.

Even though we create players randomly, the creation modifiers are revised so that scrappy players wouldn’t be abundant.

The commisioners will be Paul (The_Prodigy) and yours truly. He'll be the commish and I am lower in ranks, co-commish.

Here are the rules, as of now:

Simulation Timetable

We simulate two weeks of play per sim. Sims will be run thrice in a week, Monday, Thursday and Saturday, all on 8 PM EST. We’ll play out 162 games. Since there are only four teams initially, the division winners win take part in the IBPL Championship.

League Setup

Finances will be used and there would be NO salary cap.

All players would be placed in a pool and after the initial draft; all who got picked will be signed to a $300,000 for one year. This would even the playing field.

All teams would start with:

Team Market: Good
Fan Loyalty: Good
Fan Interest: 60
Max Cash: $10 M
Local TV contract: $10 M
National TV contract: $20 M

No DH
No Minors as of now

Team Management

All owners should participate in the forums. They should be polite enough to return a PM or email in a manner of 2 days, unless otherwise, they are away.

Owners would choose their stadium based on the real MLB parks. It wouldn’t be altered. The name of the stadium is on the discretion of the owner.

Player Management

All players should response to offers within a week. If they are inactive, GM’s could open the bidding for that player.

Players are not required to be on the boards always, but a visit every other day wouldn’t hurt.

As a player, you can toggle your player strategies, allocate points in Spring Training, write articles and participate in the forums. You are also responsible for negotiations, after the first season, if you don't have an agent.

Every member has a chance of winning the lottery (will give you raise in talent). It will be run thrice in a season (Off-season, All-Star Weekend and End-of-season).

We would also give awards to the MVM (Most Valuable Member), AOY (Agent of the Year) and GM of the Year.

Contracts

Rookies after the first season will only be allowed to sign any contract not over $6 million over 3 years. For ex: $6 M for 1 year, $3 M per year for 2 years or $2 M per year for 3 years.

I'm thinking of being able to use your money in this league. I'm thinking like ITP, where you could buy bats, gloves, shoes, etc. Its all in mind yet, so, no official rule for this matter as of now.

Will you be an All-star Catcher? Maybe a hard-hitting Shortstop? How about a platoon type of guy? I know you don't like the last option. Don't worry. This league gives you a lot of chances to become good. From lottery to equipments (this idea is on my mind yet).

What is a players' league?

A players' league is an online league that lets you become a player. You will handle all the negotiations, demand for a trade, ask for a raise or playing time. Its all in your hands.

All the members are real persons, so it would definitely be a challenge.

You don't need the game to join. Just sit back, relax and check how your player does. If you want to do something else, that's fine. You can almost do anything here.

Featuring our tentative CBA:

A Player, if he so desires, may designate an agent to conduct on his behalf, or to assist him in, the negotiation of an individual salary and/or Special Covenants (Incentives, Bonus) to be included in his Contract with any Club.

If a Player has designated a certified Player Agent or Agents to act on his behalf; no Club may negotiate or attempt to negotiate an individual salary and/or Special Covenants to be included in a Contract with any Player Agent(s) other than such Player Agent(s).

A Player may distribute points during Spring Training in his own judgment.

Any Player may be invited during Spring Training. The player should not have a contract before hand.

Subject to the rights of Players, each Club may have title to and reserve up to 25 Player contracts. A Club shall retain title to a contract and reservation rights until one of the following occurs:

(1) The Player becomes a free agent
(2) The Player becomes a free agent as a result of

(a) Termination of the contract by the Club
(b) Termination of the contract by the Player
© Failure by the Club to exercise its right to renew the contract within the time period

(3) The contract is assigned outright by the Club.

Following the completion of the term of his Contract, any Player with 6 or more years of Major League service who has not executed a contract for the next succeeding season shall be eligible to become a free agent.

Players, who have not signed a contract or extension, after the World Series, will be put in the FA Pool.

Any Player who has 5 or more years of Major League service at the time of the assignment of his contract and whose contract covers the next succeeding season, may elect, at the conclusion of the season following the assignment, to require that his contract be assigned to another Club. If the Club fails to trade the player based on his request, the Player will become a free agent immediately

Option Contracts can be a feature of a contract. Team Options, Player Options or Mutual Options can be made. Option Buyouts can also be added.

No Salary Reduction (Pay cuts)

Deferral is allowed

A player with three or more years of service, but less than six years, may file for salary arbitration.

A player with three or more years of service, but less than six years, may file for salary arbitration.

An arbitration panel will hear every case that has been filed. The Club and Player must send their figures and the panel will decide.

If a player is inactive, the negotiations will be handled through the AI.


*The Player Union will be responsible for this. If there's a need to add/modify the rules, it will be on the discretion of the Player Representative, who will be voted before the season starts.
