I am currently experiencing the privilege of being in leagues with two great commishioners.

1. Jesse Berry - National Pastime Baseball League (http://www.npbl.net). He does a very thorough job managing the league and goes the extra mile to make sure everything is correct. He is very fair in the way the league is run. This is a no-financials league, and has a very unique culture to it...one of my best online experiences.

2. Matt Alford - Time Warp Baseball (http://www.southernbaseball.com). Matt is amazing in the amount of knowledge and expertise that he brings to the league. The concept of having our ancestors as part of the history of baseball is done in a very quality way in this league.

Well I haven't been in an online league for quite some time, but Matt and Joel of MBBA was the best league I was ever in. It was the most fun, until I got proud and screwed myself out of the league. Eitherway I know they don't run it anymore, but while they were in charge it was great!

At the time, Jase was running an e-fed [roleplaying a wrestler http://www.efeduniverse.com/avw/ if it's still up] and bought OOTP 3. He decided to run a baseball league just like the wrestling one, and such was SEBL. It just never caught fire like e-wrestling simply because message boards were frowned upon in that circle and e-mail stored contracts... etc made it far too hard to source for GM's.

While Cuss might be credited with the first successful board ran players league. He wasn't exactly the first guy with the idea. UBL is another players league that pops to mind that existed in 2001 and there was another little league players league that existed forever and a day ago.

Still to this day, however, a lot of us e-wrestler are in SEBL in it's new form. We're big on writing, which is a large part of e-wrestling, which is why SEBL is a hotbed for members wriing media articles and stories about their players. We have a great set of writers and we probably have over 1000 articles written in four months.

Two things:

#1
#2

#1 is far more important than #2, but I would appreciate it if you closely read the title and first post of each of those two links.

Anyway, I've only been in 2 online leagues in my life, one the GFBL, and the other one the APBL. I'm giving out two votes here, one to cuss for his job as the GFBL's commish, and the other vote goes to ThomasMontalto for his work as the commish of the APBL. I can't compare these two to anyone else, however I can say that both did (in cuss's case), and are doing (in Tom's case) an outstanding job keeping all league members updated and being on-time with all league events.
