1920s Historical League : St. Louis Cardinals available

The Ball ALIVE!!! is looking for a new St. Louis Cardinals owner. The Ball ALIVE!!! is a historical league that is midway through the 1928 season, the league's tenth. We feature financials and divisions, in order to keep up the parity in the league, while at the same time featuring the legendary players of the 1920s.

The Cardinals are a successful franchise -- TBA Champs in '24, two trips to the series including last year -- although currently they are in an off year and hovering around .500, but only 7 games out on July 1st.

So, if you are looking for a quality, established historical league, check out The Ball ALIVE!!! and fill out an application

Am I just tired since its 2 am, or did Babe Ruth really have a 100+ homerun season and 200+ RBI season in 1924?

To the best of my knowledge, that was the first season after the v6 upgrade and the league totals were a bit whacked, but they've since been fixed. I did have to bench Ruth for about the final 10 games though to prevent him from going over the 255 RBI limit.

Gotta love the sarcasm above...

In 1920, Babe Ruth outhomered every TEAM in baseball except for the Phillies while at the same time shattering the modern Major League record by nearly doubling the previous record he set just a season earlier. In 1921, he outhomered eight teams in baseball. Then in 1927 he outhomered every other team in the American League.

Realistic? That was in real life.

Always a good idea to run a test when converting to a new version to help make sure things like this don't happen.

That was just one minor blip in the leagues history. Overall the league is very good and the numbers are more realistic with every passing season. It's one of the better run historical leagues out there. Sam is a good guy and knows what he's doing when it comes to commishing.

Maybe he'd be interested in commishing the GDBA.

Definitely sad to see the longest running league go down like that. Hopefully the guys trying to keep it going will have some success.

It was a shame. Hard to keep a league running when most of the owners aren't interested anymore though.

Yeah, I've only heard bits and pieces in a second hand manner. It seemed there were a few owners disappointed that hoped to keep it going last I heard. But yes its tough if there isn't much participation. Normally I had about half the teams sending in exports for each sim. Did participation drop to less?

There were a few guys wanting to keep it going yeah, I told them they were more than welcome to do so if they wished. Participation was about 50% for the last few sims. That wasn't the only problem though. Guys just weren't into it at all really. I'd send out league wide emails asking for opinions and responses on issues and half the guys responded most of the time, if that. I just felt it would be better to move on and let guys do their thing in other leagues instead of struggling with a league where only half the guys were interested.

You'd maybe be able to persuade Mike Lambert into taking it over... he already runs ten thousand leagues anyway, lol.
