I just finished creating the first 20 players for the league file tonight. I am creating hitters using Henry's stats to ratings conversion table. For pitchers, I am simply importing a white big leaguer of similar abilities and then changing his name to that of the specific negro league player.

I will try to see if I can create at least 50 players tonight.

I created 31 players last night. I will continue working on the file for the next several days. I may post an OOTP Free Agent report when I finish 100 players or so.

I will keep you all posted.

Instead of manually adding the players to the league file one at a time, I decided to create a Negro League database. (Players will import to the league at their maximized ratings, I will then adjust the players ratings based on their age and abilities).

One of the resources I am using to create the players is a book entitled "Baseball's Other All-Stars" by William F. McNeil. In this book, the author provides major league equivalency stats for many negro league and latin leagueplayers.

After spending a lot of time on the design for the league website -- http://negro-league.net and adding a number of Negro League Players to the league file, I decided to go in a different direction with my online league.

Instead of having Negro League players playing in a segragated league, I decided to create a new league which allows for integration.

Unfortunately, league play will not take place in the United States. Major League Baseball will not integrate their league until 1947, seventeen years after the start of my new league.

The league which commences play in 1930 will play its games in the little island of Cuba. The league will be made up of eight teams, but I may add between two or four more franchises depending on how many players will be added to the league file.

The league will play its games during the winter and as such will be called, appropriately enough, the Cuban Winter League. The league file will be made up of mostly Negro League and Cuban League players in addition to a limited number of players from the Major and Minor Leagues, other Latin American Countries and Japan.

I've been giving it some thought. The research would be grueling for sure, since the record keeping wasnt all that great. The bright side of it all would be that there wouldnt be that many teams and players intially.

He is somewhat, but it won't be a full blown negro league like people wanted and were expecting in this thread.

The Cuban Winter League will include ALL of the real Negro League players I was going to create for the Negro Baseball League AND it will also include real Cuban League players, PLUS a limited number of players from the real Major and Minor Leagues, other Latin American Countries and Japan.

I am still interested. I think the people who posted first in this thread should have first choice of whether to join and what teams they want.
