I need someone to help me create a league
I have an idea for an online baseball league. What I am looking for is someone to help me set up the roster and create and manage the website. I have no commissioner experience so I would need someone with lots of experience to assist me and handle most of the commissioner duties.

I am just going to post my idea here. I don't know enough about the game to ever fully realize my idea but someone else may like it and they are free to pick it up and run with it.
Here is a copy of the PM I have been sending to interested persons. My idea is something called The South Seas Baseball league. The league will be completly fictional and set in the South Pacific on the islands in the area. The players will be all created and assigned to teams without a start up draft. The league 'twist' is that all of the islands players are born on that island and then as they progress eventualy play for that island. There is no amatuer draft from year to year. Players are generated from year to year and then assigned to teams automaticly to simulate them being born on the island. The second twist is that each island has it's own attribute that makes it unique. One island might produce right handed power hitters while another might produce players with high speed and high stealing ratings. Another might produce flame balling lefties with low endurance. Each island will produce a wide varity of players in which some will be good and some will be bad, but each island will have it's own unique slant such as all players getting a speed bump or some players getting their power adjusted to be real sluggers. Financials will be off and free agency will be off. Trading will be on and will be encouraged since in order to 'collect' all of the unique skilled players you will have to do some trading. I havn't fully fleshed out the details yet but this is my basic idea. Tell me what you think and if you have any ideas then I would be more than glad to hear them. Here is a copy of a PM that lays out the main problems I am having with the league. I am open to any ideas of how to fix them.
What I planned on doing is creating the teams and then letting the game generate players for the teams. I will then go in and edit birthplaces and ratings based upon how I set up the 'islands unique ratings' For instance. If I decide to have a left handed power hitters island I will make it so that every person born on that island is left handed. They will also get a +15 bump in power. So if they are generated with a 35 power rating they will be 50 and if they are generated with a 100 power rating I will bump it up to 115. I am also going to attach a negative attribute to the island. Using my example above lets say that because they saw no right handed people growing up that all of their hitting ratings against RHP take a 5 point hit. So basicly it is just alot of editing. Here are the main problems I am finding. First, how do I keep it fair? I will be handing editing all players and some might get angry if their team sucks or is good. If I do end up doing this I don't think I will take a team just for this reason. Second. How do I keep it competive from year to year? My idea is to have no ammy draft. I would simply left the game create draftiees and then assign them to teams where I would again edit them. If one team begins to dominiate then it will continue to do so until alot of it's players retire. There will also be no financials either. I don't know how that is going to work out. If you have any ideas then I would love to hear them. I may ask this on the main forum and have them give me ideas as well. I will think about it some more today and see if I want to go ahead with this.

I think it's a good idea in theory but worry it wouldn't work in reality.

I got to 8 teams decided this was enough to run some test seasons.
Things went ok but the problems I thought would be there are still there. I set trades to very low to simulate that human players do not really trade that much. In 30 seasons all 8 teams won the champioship. But 5 of those won it two times or less. One team won it 7 straight times and 14 times overall. Without an amatuer draft and no free agency it is hard to make over your team from season to season. Financials being off make things sort of boring too. If enough people like the idea I may actualy make the 16 team league and give it a go. I was not that impressed with it however. The idea is good but flawed since it kills competition within the league.

Things are looking up.
I had a small breakthrough this morning and now I am testing it. I set the league to have an amatuer draft and then after the draft I edited the players to simulate being 'raised' by the team that they were drafted too. It really made the league competitive. I still don't like financials being off but there is nothing I can do about that and yet keep the intergrity of the idea I have. Now I need help to finish the roster file. I really need a list of names that you would find on the region. I will release a team list here in a few hours so you can get an idea of the types of names I need. Things are coming together and I with a little help I can make this thing a reality.

Having an amatuer draft each year seems a little contrived. Players exist already but are then transformed to accomodate the island that drafts them? How about for each team each year, you generate say three new youth players, modify them per their island, and then bump up their potentials according to the team's standings last season. The last place team gets their guy raised to a 5-blue star player. The next-to-last place gets their guy raised to a 4.5-blue star guy. The first place guy, maybe raised to a 3-blue star player. Kind of simulates each island developing their own youngsters to play for their island but still contributes to parity (the worst teams are still getting the best potential players).
