Which online leagues have solid relocation rules?

Any links/info would be greatly appreciated, also regarding stadium expansion!

In particular, I am interested in how leagues with a cash cap handle this. I am looking at return time etc. since you don't want it make too easy to add seats/relocate but also don't want a payback time of 20 years.

Whether or not they are solid is subjective, but I like them.

They have guided us through one relocation, two new stadium purchases, and two expansion teams and many many stadium upgrades and renovations.

The JOBL (in my sig) uses participation points and some cash for relocation. The payment is $20 million (we have ~$10 million cash cap), which is payable over 4 seasons. The 125 participation points required would take a very active owner 3 seasons to accumulate. There's a couple of other minor things you can do with participation points in the JOBL, like add seats (up to a maximum), gain some cash, or make minor changes to ballpark dimensions.

POTD has some interesting rules... first is an owner must be with the squad for three seasons before relocating (too many issues of people joining, moving a team and quickly disappearing). We also have a $25 mil cash cap and require teams pay for a stadium over the course of three seasons. Teams are required to pay 20 percent of the total cost. Half of that payment is due in season 1, with one fourth payments each due in season 2 and season 3 to finalize the stadium payment.

Twice now we have had owners build stadiums where their season 1 payment exceeded the $25 mil cash cap. What we do then is similar to how MLB handles contract negotiations for players involved in trades. We offer a 72 hour window during the offseason where that team is allowed to acquire as much cash as they want from other teams in the league via trades and they're free to go over cash cap as much as they want. For example, say you have $25 mil in cash and the stadium you build requires a season 1 payment of $35 million. The next offseason, when that season 1 payment is due, you will have a 72 hour window granted at dates that are convenient for you so you can go out shopping for the extra cash.

We've had two teams so far use the system and it's worked out well both times.

Thanks for the quick input guys. I will look at your rules when I come home tonight and probably will do some cherry picking tonight!

Though we don't allow relocation in the Maelstrom, we do have rules about building new stadiums and how teams can save up cash. We have a stadium fund that is kept separate from the rest of a team's cash. Any cash earned by a team over the cash max in the league builds up in the fund each year. Check out our rules section for more details.
