Online League Ideas, need input/help

I have 3 ideas for a new online league. Im not in a rush to get these started and just wanted to see what you all thought would be the best one to go with.

1. Fictional. Begins in 1982 with the premise that the 1981 strike continued and baseball began a new league with new players. There would be no Free Agency at least to begin, could be voted on by owners of the league to change, and minor league franchises created there own sort of major league. I was thinking 20 teams to start. 2 leagues, 2 divisions each. Was thinking of simming 10-20 years, then have owners select a team, then simming 5-10 years more. Then start the league. That way you at least have a bit of history to league. This league is kind of a combo of 2 leagues im in right now. FORT and WCBL.

2. Historical. Begins in 1964. This basis for this league is to establish the true MLB draft. The draft began in June of 1965. For our league it would begin following the conclusion of the 1964 season. The draft and every draft after would consist of the players actually drafted in the historical draft, instead of using the Lahman or Ankit DB which has the players drafted when they began seeing time in the majors. Players that did not appear in the majors before 1965 would be assigned to there respective teams. The commish, me, would not have a team in this league due to the fact that I would be editing all these draft rookies. Expansion would depend on owners wishes.

3. Present Day. Begins in 2005. Hold a fantasy draft using the Halofan roster which would be edited by the commish, me. The edits would mostly be the prospects using various sources as well as a few veterans which I feel are underated. Probably would go with 24 teams, 2 leagues, 3 divisions. Owners would have to realize that a fantasy draft takes time and patience is the key with beginning this league. Draft list will be mandatory.

Well thats it. All feedback is welcome as well as any one willing to help get one of these up and running. Im not in a hurry, but would like to get something going by opening day, the best day of the year. Thanks for looking and have fun everyone.

Why not combine #1's simming past 20 years, and once owners are picked, sim 10 more years, and #2's foundation of a 1960's league?

Would make for a very interesting and fun league. Good luck with the league!

Thats a good idea. Start the league in the 30's, sim 20 years, pick teams, sim 10 more years and then start in '64, with the draft in '65 containing real major leaguers drafted in '65.

Thanks for the input. Time to test some of these rookies and see what happens.

Here is my latest idea. Bare with me i just woke up and the coffee's not ready yet.

League will start in 1982. The MLB strike has continued and the Pacific Coast League and International League have combined to create a 20 team league, 10 teams from the PCL and 10 from the International League. 2 divisions of 5 teams in each league.

Fictional players will fill out these rosters, either through an owners draft or by the game itself. There will be no Free Agency in this league, well, at least through the first few seasons. After all, that is why there was a strike in the first place

The first year player draft following the first season will consist of 100 true draft picks from the 1983 draft. Each draft the following years will be the same. 5 rounds only. Players will be edited to attempt to reflect their actually careers. This is not an exact science however, so when selecting a player, please dont just go by name recognition.

And finally, each team will have one MLB player "cross the picket line" and join their team each year. So in 1983, a team can have anyone that actually played in 1983. Not sure of how to who gets first pick, so im open to suggestions. These players will be the exact copy of their Ankit DB import minus the career stats for that year. No player may be imported twice, for example, you cannot select George Brett in 1983, then some other team select him in 1984. Hope that makes sense.

Im thinking of not using the stars at all, and either 1-10 or 2-8 ratings. I think that about does it. Please let me know your thoughts on this concept, good, bad or indifferent.
Thank You

Sign me up for any of the three.. I personally like your latest idea of starting in 1982...because the 60s are too old.
