Question What Is Important To You?

I know what I look for in an online league, but I was wondering what most people are looking for in a league. What would your perfect league be like?

You've probably seen some of these before, but for those that haven't: What do you look for in joining a league?
What is the popular opinion on these issues?
What do you look for when joining a league?

Past the usual (type of players, commish reputation, and familiar members), I think the one thing that might be changing over time and with more leagues is that people are looking a bit more at what extras a league offers.

The first thing I look at when I want to join a league is the sim schedule. I prefer rather fast sim schedules as I don't want to be stuck with 2 years reality of my team losing. I love leagues with their own history.
Next I take a look at is the front page of the league. I don't need any extras but the page can tell a lot about the league.
Then I look at the forum to see if there is any activity. I need to have the impression that there is some trade activity.
Last but not least I take a look at the available team(s) and try to get the commish on AIM to talk to him.

I hope that helped

I'm only in one.

I looked for a mature commish who wanted mature owners. Personally, I don't think I could have picked a better commish (and he has kept together a great set of owners).

While I'm not looking for a league... Some of the things I would seek if I were...

1) Active message board. Alot of chat about the league and real life events.
2) Active owners. Are the owners exporting? If a good percentage of the league doesn't export on a regular basis... Odds are that the league will eventually fail.
3) Commissioner. How much time has the commish put into the rules, site and other aspects of the league. If he invested a nice amount of his time into the league, odds are he won't let it slip away that quick.
4) Unique value added feature(s). What seperates you from all the rest of the leagues?

Well... Those are the top things I would look for in a league.

Too bad there wasn't a directory of all leagues with some sort of review/stars system

It was done a few years ago, but because of the negative feedback that it gained, it was shut down.

Leagues that send you free bottles of booze.

There are no leagues that do this, but dammit, there needs to be.

Some league's commissioners complained about some of the negative reviews that the webmaster gave the leagues.
